Attempted kidnap Clapham South. Credit card fraudsters working locally. Asked for flat repairs, landlord ordered me to leave. Southfield’s cannabis factory found. Fire in Clapham High Street
Last Updated on : 7th September 2015
The phone rang.
“If that’s the Sainsbury’s man running late tell him it doesn’t matter,” I shouted down the stairs, “I’ve still got a ton of stuff to do.”
We’d just come back from holiday and the house looked like a bomb site. Bags and suitcases were filling halls and bedrooms, their contents half pulled out and disemboweled by the children looking for favourite toys and hoodies.
As I was trying to sort through this mess I could hear a mumbled conversation going on downstairs.
Then Mr NappyValleyNet walked up the stairs, carrying the phone and wearing his “sloat” face.
It’s a grin that sits somewhere between a smirk and gloat and it usually means I’ve messed up and he can’t wait to tell me it was my fault.
“It was the Sainsburys man and he wants to know if you can open the door?”
“Well, let him in then,” I said, still not quite sure where this was going but with a rising sense of all was not well.
“I can’t,” and at this point I swear his voice actually squeaked with glee, “he’s outside the holiday cottage in the Lakes.”
Brilliant. I am now officially the world’s least organised mother. I’d forgotten to change the address from the last delivery which was in Ambleside. We’d just driven back from there!
“Don’t worry,” he continued, “at least we know I had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with this and so cannot be blamed in any capacity whatsoever.”
There was a pause.
“Which is nice.”
