I have done Gymboree in clapham with both my kids and they love it and excellent for 1 year old, fruity tunes for music is another on this list. Also no one has mentioned swimming lessons I don't think, clapham leisure centre dies baby swim , we actually go to puddle ducks in tooting bec which Peter the instructor is brilliant for all ages. Most of these places offer free trials so worth checking them out and seeing which one you like best whether it is tumble tots or Gymboree I am sure you will find something which you both enjoy. Just to add a few more for you to try!
We run Little crafters on Monday mornings - arts and crafts activities for different age groups so they are adapted to their abilities and age.
We are also going to start an amazing music class on Wednesday afternoon for children from 1y to 4y to experience, learn and enjoy music by playing their own instruments, singing and moving! We will start after the half term and they will fill up quickly.
You are very welcome to stay and play in our crèche whilst you have a coffee, tea and a chat with other mums. We have Childcare from mon to Thursday.
And last but not least, we are also reinstating our Saturday family workshops. After the great success we had at the pump house gallery on Christmas we have had many requests, so we are back with dads (&mums) and kids!

Hi Sarah.bee, you could check out Gymboree - they do Saturday morning sessions in their clapham and wandsworth venues. not tried it myself but looks great.

A couple of the local churches also run monthly dads playgroups - st marks near clapham junction and the ascension on malwood road both do I think.

Swimming is also a popular dads Saturday activity, I think most of the local baby swimming schools offer a Saturday class.

Hi - On a related theme does anyone have any suggestions for activities on a Saturday morning, for a toddler.

My husband wants to start a regular activity with my son, aged 15 months, but most groups are (understandably) weekday focused. Any suggestions welcome - my son has A LOT of energy!!

Artful Toddler gets my vote!

Anyone out there got any great suggestions/recommendations for classes in Clapham area. Baby is just turning 1yr. Also...finding it tricky to find any local, good soft-play venues. Thanks!!

Forgot to add a big thumbs up for It's a Kid's Thing in Earlesfield, but also recommend you phone first as they do a lot of birthday parties & are closed to the general public during these times... the staff are excellent, though & it's easily accessible via the train as it's around the corner from Earlesfield Station on Magdalen Road.

I have been working as a nanny in this area for the last 5 years & you've been given some great names & activities already, but I thought I'd add that Bertie & Boo's in Balham High Street have an Adventure Island cafe, opposite the Polish church. Their original coffee shop is still going strong on the corner of Ramsden Road & is very child friendly, but their newer premises includes a soft play area, regularly sheduled story times, & other activities plus some other groups hire the room at the back for their classes... it's easily accessible (I usually walk for the excersize) via train (Balham Station or Balham Underground) & their prices are very reasonable... during term times there are just toddlers & young ones & they have a baby play area which is free... I've often met other nannies & mothers there for a cuppa & a catch up while our wee charges play very happily...

Also, my personal preference for music is Tin Pan Annie! They have several locations in the area & I have regularly attended classes by both Gareth & Susy & they are brilliant! Different classes are geared for different age groups but it's very inclusive & lots of fun for both children & adults!

There are plenty of great play groups but of course they fill up quickly in an area like this - most churches in the area run them, so if you live closer to one or another check out their notice board of website - I have attended both the Methodst Church in Kyrle Road & the Trinity Church playgroups & they are excellent & well run. (Methdist is just off Broomwood Road & the Trinity Church is on Trinity Road near the sports ground & the intersection of Trinity & Bellvue Roads) - both are close to G1 bus stops...

They do a Free toddler activity every morning throughout the weekdays at 11, my boys favourite is Petit Chef - cooking for toddlers, and they are starting a music class on Tuesdays from next week I think, they also do a disco, arts and crafts and story time, plus there's a under 2s zone plus an imagination station.
In the mornings all the big children (4and up) are in school so the little ones have a place all to themselves
