For what it is worth - I've just had a very good experience with Culmax. I had a tight time line for installation and they bent over backwards to help me meet this, working through the Christmas period to ensure they were installed in time. Brad and the team were really helpful. So far (fingers crossed) there are no issues and the doors look really great. I have 3 sliding slim line doors of around 2m x 3.5m. I'd recommend them to others.

We have also gone with Rayners at home via Grabex and are very happy - not as slimline as some but great product, and significantly cheaper than the quote you have. PM me if you would like further details.

Well I've just had a quote back from Cantifix - 17k plus 4-7k for installation as they would need a crane to lift the panels in! This is 6k more than the second highest quote and none of the other companies are requiring a crane.....

On another note, we wanted slimline doors but the locks fitted in them didn't meet our insurers guideline and we had to go for ones with thicker frames. Our are Solarlux and are great.

We're in the process of having sliding doors put in during our refurbishment. Did lots of research.
Because they're quite large, we couldn't have especially slim ones, but we've gone with http://www.reynaersathome.co.uk/
ODC and Grabex are local suppliers.

Try The Cedar Door Company based on the way to Wimbledon ( near the Greyhound track - can't remember the address without looking it up). We used them for our kitchen bifolds last year and were very happy throughout the choosing and fitting. Very friendly and great service. They even colour matched the paint to our new kitchen. We were just commenting today how good they still are. No company connection .. just a family who couldn't choose between aluminium and oak and were pointed in the direction of cedar. Very happy to recommend. PM if you want more details.

We've just recently moved back into our house after a pretty extensive 6 month renovation including side return.

We've come up against our fair share of issues to say the least but we've also been lucky enough to find or have recommended some excellent builders and trades people that I wouldn't hesitate to work with again. Of all the difficulties that we have suffered along the way, the biggest--without a shadow of a doubt-- has been working with Culmax. I don't say this lightly as I'm only too well aware of the power of these sorts of sites and the damage that can be caused by negative reviews.

In short, they caused us weeks and weeks of delay through no fault of our own which obviously meant rapidly escalating costs. They were extremely arrogant and inflexible when issues did arise, took days if not weeks to respond to emails or calls, promised things on certain dates that rarely materialised and generally didn't seem to have any regard for getting the job done or the situations that they were causing. We wondered if perhaps it was just a personality clash so our builder tried to step in but met similar issues. I could go on....

Having finally installed the doors one is faulty which admittedly they readily agreed to fix--by the end of April. 4 chase emails later and we're still waiting to find out when the replacement door will arrive!

In case it's of interest, Culmax don't actually supply the glass, just the frames that the glass sits in so in some respects they act as a middle man.

My advice for what it's worth... Proceed with extreme caution if at all.

Watching with interest as we don't want bifold doors. I was thinking of going with cantifix but didn't realise they were that expensive!! Was that 10k just for the back doors or for other doors as well?

Thank you ladies. Do you mind me asking ballpark budget for Culmax? They are one of the ones I had identified but will also talk to Fineline now. x

Hello

A customer of mine is using Fineline. They haven't been installed yet but I know a great deal of research went into choosing them - I can update you in three months time!

We're in the process of using Culmax based in Sheperds Bush. They have a "sightline" system that is super low profile. culmax.co.uk. I think/hope the product is good but the customer service is beyond terrible. I'd be very hesitant to recommend them as a result.

Worth checking out www.finelinealuminium.co.uk. Great product, cheaper than Cantifix but more than Culmax. Customer service is also painful.

Hello - we need some and I want to get some quotes. Can anyone recommend some brands/companies? I've tried Cantifix and they were quoting nearly £10K which seems extortionate and far more expensive than bifold doors oddly. Anyway any recos would be brilliant.
