Sorry that was a bit off topic as this is about Northcote, but lots of buggies go down this narrow pavement (including mine) and there isn't space for both a pram and pedestrians hence the problem.

There's a real problem on Webbs Rd, on a narrow little pavement used by parents and children going to HW and BV in the mornings which is opposite the newsagents, it really is quite tricky especially when rubbish bags are left out on the pavement (not complaining about that as whoever leaves them there has a right to obviously).

Most pedestrians (and very young children) don't cross the road but step down in to the side of the road to walk alongside the pavement with cars whizzing past them. It is quite dangerous and I often think to myself something should be done.

So they reduce the library opening days due to budget cuts and then devise a scheme like this - it's nonsensical!

Has anyone else seen the latest issue of Village magazine? There's an article about new buggy lanes which are being planned for both pavements due to various injuries inflicted by pushchairs!? A bit like the cyclist/pedestrian lanes on the paths on Wandsworth Common. No £10 fines issued there though!
