i got married around there - in Camogli in fact which is a really lovely town and very child friendly. There's a beach and lido and plenty of very family friendly places to eat - there's a restaurant right in the middle of the promenade I think it's called Primrose or Primula maybe that we used to go to a lot.
Camogli is a really good base to go exploring down to Portofino etc and you can get boats directly from there down the coast and stop off at various places.
My friends have a hotel which is amazing but they don't have kids there (small boutique hotel) but there are plenty of family focussed places in Camogli - there's also a nice place just outside portofino I think it's called Domina Home - some friends stayed there for my wedding and loved it.
Santa Margherita Ligure is also a really lovely and very family friendly town.
You must stop at Recco and go to Cavassa for ice-cream it's amazing.
Also check on drive times - I did my honeymoon in the south of france and remember it taking a longer longer than we thought it would - although I think maybe Nice is closer.

The first time we took my daughter to Italy when she was 13 months old (14 years ago) we went to a beautiful village on the beach called Sestri Levante. We've also stayed in Laigueglia, again on the beach, when the children were young. Would def recommend both.

The in-laws are coming over from NZ in September and we are looking to spend a week in Menton and then a week somewhere in the region of Liguria (ideally a 2-3 hour drive from Nice airport). Does any one have any recommendations of villages/towns that would be be an ideal place to base ourselves. We will be travelling with a 2.5 and a 6 month old. Somewhere that has a few things to keep the toddler occupied, a couple of nice toddler friendly restaurants etc.
Any advice much appreciated!
