Interesting thread for me as I have coeliac disease. I found this googling "afternoon tea gluten free london"

http://www.standard.co.uk/goingout/rest ... 86244.html

Don't know how current it is, lots of nice ideas, maybe phone up in advance and see whether it will work with a one year old.

Balthazar in Covent Garden do a great gluten free afternoon tea option too, plus Cov Garden always good with kiddies, London Transport Museum right around the corner. Less formal than the hotel ones?

Hi there, not sure about the Gluten Free but we just had a lovely celebratory afternoon tea at Delauney. It was very relaxed but still a bit "special" to celebrate a birthday ! We got the bus from Lavender Hill - all very easy. Otherwise we have also been to 1 Aldwich for afternoon tea and its amazing but I think not so relaxed with a 1 year old !!

I am looking to go for a nice afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday. There would be a 1 year old (likely to be a bit messy eating her food) and a gluten free person in the party. Does anybody have any recommendations for somewhere special but relaxed and also easy to get to from Clapham Junction?
