I have just gone back to work full time, and am absolutely dreading this! We don't have a nanny, but kids are at school/childminder/nursery... As much as we'd love to take time off when the kids are ill, we can't. We've been members of Likeminders for a couple of years, and they're really good. The girls have (almost) all been great, and I think they can get someone to you within a couple of hrs.
The only issue is, their office opens at 8am, so if you call dead on 8am, it might be 10 or 11am before someone can get to you-which isn't ideal, but I can't see another way an agency would run-it's better than no childcare...
I would recommend likeminders so far, BUT we've never had to use them for an emergency day (yet, I'm touching wood here!), only for babysitting and occasional planned day time work...
Good luck.
