Thanks for the great feedback. To clarify we always leave an emergency number on the voicemail during out of hours so that you can always speak to one of us and make emergency bookings as and when you need to. We take pride in only using the very best DSB checked child carers and can usually fulfil any booking within an hour or two. Give us a call if you have any questions 0844 879 7189. We also offer babysitting, regular daytime care, temporary nannies. x Georgie @ Like Minders

Likeminders is fabulous and we work very closely with them providing the First Aid training for the child carers they send to us and they also provide child care during our First Aid courses. They really care and the happiness and safety of your children is of paramount importance to them.

Likeminders really get the thumbs up from me and I've used them a couple of times when I've been desperate for emergency childcare and I've thought everyone they have sent me has been great.

Also, My Temporary Nanny are brilliant (http://www.mytemporarynanny.co.uk/) and again, bent over backwards to help us out - great quality childcarers and my son (2) has always immediately taken to whoever they have sent.

Hope that helps!

Hi,

I'm an emergency/temporary/ad hoc nanny who doesn't mind late night or early morning calls and texts!

I am a qualified, British Montessori teacher, with over four years nanny experience. I am experienced looking after children aged over 12 months, I have a current CRB/DBS, and a recently renewed Paediatric First Aid certificate, and most importantly, excellent references.

I live in Battersea, so can get to homes in Nappy Valley very quickly, and don't have a minimum number of hours per booking. I'd be happy to babysit too.

Please get in touch if you'd like a back up nanny saved in your phone for emergencies :)

Thumbs up for LikeMinders here too.
Recommended over and over for their lovely sitters and excellent service on NVN.

Run by local mums who have little ones and experience of being in the position that you find yourself in now!

I think they leave the emergency number on their answer phone after hours?

Thumbs up for Likeminders from me, too.
I also had only one nanny from them I didn't like; all the other ones were lovely and settled immediately with my kids (and my kids with them  )

That's interesting to know there's an emergency number-that would come in hugely useful... Is it somewhere on their website-I can only see the office number?

Thanks.

We've used Likeminders for the last 3 years and I think they are great. The nannies are normally fantastic (in all the times we've used them we have only had one nanny that I thought was less than excellent) and the service is really efficient. There is an emergency number to call for out of hours problems, so a number of times I have spoken to someone at 8pm ish and had a nanny with us by 8am the next morning.

I have just gone back to work full time, and am absolutely dreading this! We don't have a nanny, but kids are at school/childminder/nursery... As much as we'd love to take time off when the kids are ill, we can't. We've been members of Likeminders for a couple of years, and they're really good. The girls have (almost) all been great, and I think they can get someone to you within a couple of hrs.

The only issue is, their office opens at 8am, so if you call dead on 8am, it might be 10 or 11am before someone can get to you-which isn't ideal, but I can't see another way an agency would run-it's better than no childcare...

I would recommend likeminders so far, BUT we've never had to use them for an emergency day (yet, I'm touching wood here!), only for babysitting and occasional planned day time work...

Good luck.

Hello,

Can anyone recommend good emergency childcare options?

Today our nanny was sick and it has highlighted that my husband and I need a back-up plan. We both work full-time and all our family live overseas.

Just want to hear from others who have been in this situation -- what did you do? Are there emergency childcare providers you recommend?

Thank you!
