Just wanted to say that following this thread I contacted GiftTree and received an e mail with details of 2 boys in the care of social services and some details of the type of things they are into to help choose a present.

I just wanted to bump this post up as I really think this is a fantastic cause.

I know of a fantastic cause to make sure that every child looked after by Social Services in Wandsworth and Merton has a Christmas present to open on Christmas Day. The goal tgat tgey havr to get to year this is 1000 presents! It is called The Gift Tree

What is Gift Tree?
Gift Tree was set up to provide Christmas presents for disadvantaged children under the care of the local Social Services.

How does it work?
They provide the first name, age and gender of a child or children. You then buy a suitable present, wrap it and give it to them to pass on. They can also accept donations to buy a present on your behalf for a child.

If you would like to donate a present or pledge money you can email them at gifttree@hotmail.co.uk.

About Gift Tree
Anna Pritchard, a local mum, founded Gift Tree. She has since been joined by Jo Aylin (Peat) and Kate Hunter. They work with people in the locality to provide for this worthy cause at a very hectic time of year. Gift Tree is not a Registered Charity; all the organisation is voluntary and provided at no cost, so every penny or present donated goes directly to the child in need.

Last year Gift Tree provided presents for a total of 753 children in the Wandsworth and Merton areas. This year they have 1000 presents to find.

All gifts will need to be returned wrapped by Friday 28th November to ensure they are checked and sorted and delivered to the social workers to pass on so the children receive them in good time for Santa to add his magic of Christmas Eve.

I know that they will appreciate any help that can be given

I know that last year Wandsworth Foodbank really appreciated donations of advent calendars, stocking filler-type gifts for kids and doubtless luxury packs of mince pies/Christmas puddings etc. http://wandsworth.foodbank.org.uk/

Might also be worth trying Homestart? http://www.homestartwandsworth.org.uk/

Donations for Christmas gift and /or meals

Hi there, maybe a bit early but started to think about Christmas and what we can do for the less fortunate. We like to donate christmas gifts for children and bring meals if possible. If anyone knows who accept donations I would appreciate some advice. Many thanks Alexandra
