Hi

We have recently completed 3 basement dig outs in the Wandsworth Common area and are about to start two more.

We would be very happy to introduce you to one of our clients who could explain the value of employing an architect.

Please have a look at our website http://www.uvarchitects.co.uk and if you are interested we would be very happy to pop over and discuss your ideas with you.

You can call Will or myself on 02074079343

All the best

I can give you a list of the ones that we have spoken to. We are currently just about to take on a builder but I would be happy to put you in touch with some others if that would help? Also the ones that we are avoiding!

Hi LP
Could you recommend a good builder that would be happy to take on the project that has already been started? I would be grateful for the details of your structural engineer too.

You don't need an architect for this as a decent builder would be able to advise which will then save you a fair few pennies. I can recommend a good structural engineer if you need one and if they do good engineering drawings again you won't need one.

Hi Guys - On the subject of basements, does anybody have recommendations for architects that may take on the design aspects of a project after the dig out has been completed but the waterproofing and interior design needs to be taken to completion? Thanks

Just about to finish our whole house renovation and basement dig out with PASK London. Would highly recommend (and do not have any connection with the company at all). Happy to provide further details over a PM/email.

I'd highly recommend Open Space London who do basements, side returns and lofts - https://twitter.com/OpenSpaceLondon. They were brilliant and ended up doing a wet room and the loft as well as the basement. Hope that helps

Hi Belld,

Your right Premier Basements do not advertise architects on their website, thats because they are not employed by them. But they do recommend architects and structural engineers who are qualified and who they have worked closely with on previous builds.

The architects themselves designed something that we wanted not what Premier could build, if they hadn't we would not have used them. We also visited other sites where their work had already finished and also where they were in the middle of a build and have been very impressed.

At the end of the day we would not have known where to even look for a good and recommended architect.

Please always check any Architect is really an Architect - look them up on the Architects Registration Board website. Some (thankfully not all) Builders claim to use an 'Architect' when the person they are referring to is not fully qualified, members of the RIBA and ARB which they must be to use the title 'Architect'.
If you use a builders 'Architect' then expect to get what the builder wants - not what you want - importantly for the main items/details like insulation, structural coordination, dpc's etc. Using an independent Architect gives you the control which any good builder should welcome if they are good enough. An Architect can also provide tender drawings, to allow a competitive pricing process, appraisal of preferred contractors - to ensure best price and quality.
I dont need to say, you will have guess I am an Architect.
I cant see reference to 'Architects' on Premier Basement website. Non qualified Architects called themselves Architectural Designers etc - to get round this protection of title.
Good Luck.
David

Hi
We're currently having our basement done by Premier Basements who are based in Windsor, though they have done a few basements in Battersea.
We found them through Sarah Beenys Double your House for Half the Price.

They look after the whole project from Architect through to fit out, which was important to us as we didn't want the stress of having to look for an architect or a structural engineer.

We felt the quote we were given was very reasonable compared to London Basement Company and Estbury.

Roger who owns the Company is very easy to deal with and no job is too small or too big and his team are brilliant.

We're converting a 1 bed flat into a 3 bed 2 bath flat with a large double reception room and kitchen diner.
