Oh Gosh!! Poor you!! It sounds like you have had a total nightmare.

I see that you are now sorted and have finally found your perfect fairy god mother. But if you or anyone else have any trouble please let me know if I can help.

My name is Boo and I am 23 years old, very English and I am currently in between jobs and am looking for some work. I am very reliable, fun and creative.

I have a lot of experience nannying and babysitting in and around SW London, for families of all sizes starting from 6 months old and up over the years and can provide refrencees.

Please feel free to give me a call or get in touch- I would be very happy to pop round for a coffee to meet.

Best wishes,
Boo

You're absolutely right gail0810, courtesy goes both ways, and I have been on the end of "we'll let you know at the end of the week" and have never heard from the family again!

I really can't understand why you wouldn't show up for an interview. Glad you've found someone good kcbh27 :)

I think common courtesy can work both ways too. I had several nannies who didn't show up for interviews or reply to my emails/texts inviting them to interviews. But when we found someone and let the unsuccessful candidates know that we wouldn't be offering them the position, alot of them said that it was the first time in a long time that anyone had let them know they hadn't got the job.

Man - I was soooo frustrated when I wrote that post. :-)

It still kind've burns me when I think about it. It was through the ********* site... which I've actually had good success with in the past - just not lately. :-/

But... We found someone! And we adore her. She is the perfect fit for us and the kids don't even want me to do anything for them while she is around (!!!).

So maybe 'the universe' was stopping us from hiring someone else...?

All's well that ends well, I suppose.

Perhaps the nanny market is really booming (I don't think so, judging by all the 'nanny available' posts on this site) so they can afford to treat potential employers like the proverbial?

It happened to me a few times as well. One even rang me and said she wasn't coming and she was doing me a favour so I could employ someone more local to me....

As someone else mentioned, you wouldn't want to employ someone like this anyway, with these kind of people skills. Tell yourself you've had a lucky escape and pour yourself a G&T. You deserve it.

Did they come through an agency? if so, complain, if not, you have had a lucky escape!

"waiting around the corner" is just ridiculous & no, it's not you.

If it makes you feel any better, I've been interviewing for a new housekeeper, I had someone turn up late for her "trial" without contacting me to say she was running late, then she finished early, did a rubbish job & she's since texted me saying she thinks that she did a good job, hope I was pleased & when can she start? Dream on springs to mind!

Thank god you didn't employ her!

I had two nannies due to come for a second interview and play with the kids. Had the kids briefed etc and got them excited and then neither one of them showed up. GRRRR!

At least it helps you decide that they are not the right nanny!

Nope - when I was looking for a nanny at least half of the people I invited for interview didn't turn up, or even let me know they weren't interested any more

Looking on the bright side at least you won't have someone that feckless looking after your child ....

I have now had 3-4 no-shows for job interviews. WTH!?!

Today she tried to make it MY fault!

Apparently she texted me and called an hour before our 3pm interview saying that she thought that she was close to me and could she come early. Well... that's quiet time around here and my phone was off and I was chilling quietly.

Just before 3, I looked at my phone to make sure that she was finding us ok and saw the message, I decided not to reply as I figured she'd be here shortly. Nope - at 3:05 I responded saying that I was sorry, just saw the message now but I imagined that I'd see her soon. Her response: Oh, she got tired of waiting and decided to leave!

Huh!?!

She NEVER came to my door! She said that she'd waited on a street close to us until 3 and when I didn't respond to her request to come early... she left (!!!)

Ummm... What!?! I repeat: She NEVER came to my door!

When I pressed (all by text) that she may have tried another method (I don't know... maybe knocking on my door at our agreed upon time...?!?), she blamed me and said that she was even early!

I just don't get how this even gets into someone's head.

Again: She NEVER came to my door!

Tell me again how this is my fault...?

The sad part of this...

This is not the first time for a no-show nanny job interview.

Is it just me?
