There s a child's entry price - presumably this is for 9-16 or possibly 9-18 yr olds.

WBC leisure centres state £3.20 for a child. £5 for an adult, Tooting adds a £1.20 admission charge, but Putney doesn't.

Mum2Monkey, due to the confusion and administrative error by my team I would like to reimburse you, or provide a credit, for the overcharge. To facilitate this, please email me directly on enquiries@latchmereleisurecentre.co.uk.

Wakehurst Mum, to clarify we have had CCTV since 2009 and the set up here remains exactly the same as it was pre-development. The CCTV system is provided to assist with the creation of a safe and comfortable environment for the benefit of all those who work in, or visit, the sites. The main reason for the introduction of the CCTV was following a number of locker thefts and since its introduction it has proved to virtually eradicate such behaviour. CCTV also assists in reducing the fear of crime and offer public reassurance, the prevention of crime and disorder and facilitating the apprehension and prosecution of offenders.

Also, to reassure you, the CCTV is only in communal areas where any visitors would be clothed. None of the changing cubicles, group changing rooms or toilets are covered by cameras.

It is also important to note that the system is not provided to be ‘Monitored’; we do not provide staffing to watch any of the cameras. Access to the CCTV viewing software is restricted to the General Manager and Operations Manager and will only ever be viewed following any incident.

As a company we acknowledge our responsibilities under the Data Protection Act as well as our members’ expectation of privacy whilst using a changing room.

If there are any other specific queries, I would kindly ask you to contact me directly.

Many thanks

Ed Lane, General Manager

Why do you need to do a FOI? Just ask if you can speak with the manager to raise your questions.

Has anyone else noticed the cameras in the changing rooms? Why? Some are placed over doorways and can see you changing in the cubicles. Highly suspicious and unnecessary I think!!! Who would I need to write to to get a FOI to who is viewing, what is being viewed for what purpose.

So I have paid £16 in swimming entrance fees and now have 2 swim cards for my 1 and 3 year old. The hassle of going through my bank statements and having yet more arguments with Latchmere staff to get a refund is probably all too much. So I guess I shall be grateful that I spent the money at Latchmere rather than on expanding my waistline further at Deelight bakery. And I guess I now have the cards for when they eventually do turn 5!!

Staff definitely do need training though as I have spoken to 3 staff members who all said they needed a card!

On over 8s - the child rate appears to be published on the website. I think it was a couple of pounds per swim.......

Would be grateful if Ed / Latchmere could clarify the charing policy for children over 8.

To clarify, under 5’s do not need a card. Children aged 5-8 years must register and pay a one off, £2, activation fee in order to take up free swimming.

I will of course ensure the team are reminded of this policy and will look to advertise this more widely, both in the centre and across a variety of media platforms.

If you wish to discuss this further please contact me.

We got cards for our daughters last week and it's my understanding that you pay £2 each child for the first swim and thereafter it entitles them to fee swimming in any of the boroughs' pools run by places for people until they are 8. This is a great benefit to offer but a shame they do nothing to publicize it...

Ed,

Thanks for the response. But can you clarify. Your email says a card is required for 5 to 8 year olds, where as my children were 1 and 3. So, do under 5s also need one?

I think you also need to ensure your staff are fully trained on the policy. I was made to pay adult price for my children in order to be allowed to fill in the form. So that was £26 for the four of us. I was then given two cards, which I had to pay £2 each to activate the next time I was there. And I only heard about the cards after asking to talk to the manager - so either I talked to you or someone impersonating you and still got charged an adult rate for my kids!!!

Grateful if you clarify whether the card is for 5 to 8s or 0 to 8s and communicate to us on here and all your staff.

On the plus, we are really enjoying Latchmere since the refurb and it is lovely and quiet when we swim in the mornings! We even come over from Balham.

Thank you for your comments regarding Latchmere Leisure Centre.

As an organisation we have committed to allowing all under 8’s to swim free across all of our facilities. We do charge a nominal admin fee of just £2 for 5-8yr olds in order to administer their usage, however, there are no further charges for the year once this is paid.

We can only envisage that there has been an error and misunderstanding on this occasion and I would welcome Mum2Monkey to make contact with the myself in order to review exactly what has happened in this instance, so that if there has been an incorrect charge applied we can resolve this.

As part of Wandsworth Borough Council’s £3.5million investment in their leisure centres we are delighted to share that the Wetside changing village, Dryside changing rooms and Gymnasium development works are now nearing full completion and would urge those of you yet to visit to come down to the complex and see the very positive changes to our facilities.

If there are any specific issues that anyone would like to discuss please make contact directly with the complex and ask to speak to one of the management team, who will be more than happy to go through these with you. Please call on 020 7207 8004 or email enquiries@latchmereleisurecentre.co.uk.

Thank you

Ed Lane, General Manager.

We use Putney pool (tooting = cockroaches and poor staff). We have a wandsworth card for our eldest (now 10) accepted for free entry every time. Our 5 year old isn't paying yet but I understand from 5 they should pay. Don't know how much.
Does Wandsworth want healthy kids? maybe they did and now maybe they don't.

Since they have refurbished, I have found it to be far cleaner - hence why we started to go again. I have experienced the poo incident too - although on that occasion they do close the pool. To be fair, I have also experienced at Putney and tooting. So seems to be a problem anywhere where little kids swim and their parents don't use swim nappies (properly)

Still annoyed about their charging though!
