The dumplings at Old Town are truly excellent and remind us of Hong Kong :)

"Old Town" completely surpassed my expectations and a vast menu

I was about to suggest the Old Town restaurant next to the Tooting Bec tube station as well. The food is very authentic, in fact they specialise in Northern Chinese cuisine, in addition to the usual Szechuan or Catonese dishes we see all the time. After we moved to BTC, we always missed a good and Real Chinese restaurant until we found this one. Everytime we are there, the food is delicious, the staff super friendly, and my kids love the dumplings there. This place is never crowded, and I imagine if they can affort to be on Northcote road, it would be super popular.

Exactly Bubs, exactly. I've been ordering Japanese of late to get something 'cleaner' but I do miss a good chinese.

We have the same complaint, so many awful chinese takeaways! Precisely the same reason too, grease, neon sauce, non-meat.

We used to love Bento, on Battersea Bridge Road but since moving to BTC, the deliveries are from their Balham branch which is nowhere near as good, disappointingly!

Good Earth is always nice, but punchy price-wise and not many 'different' dishes.

Tian Tsin is ok, on Ramsden Road. Not perfect, but pretty good.

I'll be watching with interest! Authentic, fresh, non-MSG laden please!!

It's not a takeaway, but have you tried A Wong restaurant Wilton Road Victoria yet? Unbelievably amazing Chinese street food' with a twist!!

So aside of Good Earth is there anywhere else?

I've tried a few on Hungry House like China Palace and at best I'm underwhelmed. Too much gloopy, radioactive looking sauce and gizzard chewy meat.

Anyone know of anywhere that tastes vaguely fresh and crispy? I long for Hong Kong street food but usually end up with something that's come out of a Hong Kong gutter
