Hi,

I do not really know enough about the local schools hence why I am on this site. I thought Fransciscan had a good reputation but have not been to see this and do not know anyone who sends their child here...

which nurseries have you applied to ? when do you find out the outcome?

it is all so daunting, we have to apply in jan for nursery, my son currently at Teddies in Balham which he loves so we could keep him there until reception but just feel he may outgrow the place as the rooms are quite small ....

Fircroft seems to have some good reviews and feedback from mums on this site.

Thanks

`hi there! I would be interested to hear why you are considering applying to Franciscan in addition to Sellingcourt! We are in the priority area for Franciscan and are planning on moving away because that is likely to be our only school option. My son is due to go to nursery in Sept and we are waiting to hear where he has got in, but I can not find anyone that I know that lives in this area who has already sent their child to the school or intends to do so in the future. Massive shame as we are happy here in every other way. If you know anything or anyone then please do let me know.

Hi thanks for the comments. We went to view the school today and seemed fine although have not got anything to compare to!!

Staff friendly, facilities seemed good and the nursery was very spacious with good outdoor space. The children seemed very happy and sociable too.

We will try and look at some other too but that would mean moving house!!

Hello,

We're also in the priority catchment zone for Sellincourt and from what i gather it seems to be doing pretty well as a school. The last ofsted report was good and i agree with you about the pta starting to play a bigger role - i think that can be so key in maintaining standards in schools.

Another good sign is that there seems to be growing competition to get into it. I also enjoy living in this area and would be reluctant to move so i sympathise. My eldest is due to start school there the year after next, so I'm hoping to get her into the nursery there next year.

Would be interested to hear your impressions after your visit.

I would say Sellincourt is a good school. It doesn't have the reputation of some of the other local schools (furzedown, penwortham, ravenstone, the catholic schools) but it is quietly ticking away and doing quite well! Lots of the kids seem to go on to Graveney (through the test) and the pta is becoming more and more active.

I wouldn't write it off just yet ...!

Tooting Primary Schools

I currently live in Tooting and my son is due to start state nursery next year. Our catchment school is Sellincourt which we are in the priority zone for. I have to view this school in the next few weeks but just wanted to find out if anyone has any feedback on this school?

I will also apply to Fransican but we are not in the priority zone so do not think we will have much luck !!

We were considering moving out of the area as all we seem to hear are negative comments on Tootings schools but I have lived here for several years and do not want to jump ship just yet!! any feedback greatly appreciated
