Agree with LuluDaffodil - no excuse for shoddy and potentially dangerous equipment. I have however used the salon for haircut and eyebrow threading and they are very good with fairly reasonable prices

While I don't think there's any excuse for what happened and you should definitely be offered some kind of compensation, I just wanted to say that I have been there for hair cuts/highlights, etc and have been happy with the service.
I probably wouldn't try the treatments though!!!

Yes I did go back later when I realised I hadn't spoken to the actual manager. So I complained to her and she did apologise and offer me free treatments (as if I'd go back there!) but that's really what should have happened this morning. I did think about taking it further, but that would have been a lot of hassle for the sake of a few quid in compensation. I think a bit of bad publicity on the Internet is probably more constructive!

Dear me! Not good at all! Take a photo of the blister and keep the receipt.I would suggest writing a complaint letter to the salon and let them know that you are not happy .I would take it further if I was you.

Just wanted to let everyone know of an awful experience I have just had in this salon on Balham High Road near the station. It was my first visit there, I was having a facial. halfway through the therapist turned the steamer on which coughed, spluttered and then sprayed me with boiling hot water!!!
I now have a blister on my skin, luckily not my face, and I'm really hoping it doesn't scar. The therapist was apologetic but she was only an employee of the salon, and one would have thought that an incident like that would have brought forth a profuse apology from the manager herself, but ... nothing. In fact she seemed unwilling to have a conversation with me at all, probably because she didn't want other customers to hear, and certainly no concern or apology.
I only went there as it was cheaper than other places but the obviously dodgy equipment has scared me off and I will never go there again! If you are booked in for a facial here then please make sure they test the steamer before they position it over you as I would hate for that to happen to anyone else. But actually, I don't trust this place at all, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Don't go!
