Hi,

It is not the season for the Galette des Rois, it is usually around the 6th of January. You can find them at Paul, the Abbeville Bakery, with Chanteroy (website as well) but just in January.
But honestly with 2 puff pastry ( I recommand at Ocado: Marie La Pate Feuilletee - Ready Rolled Puff Pastry) and some ground almond ... very easy :-)

Deli Boutique on Webbs Road sell them as well as Amandine Poire. They also make Galette des Rois to order in January. Both of the owners are French. Bon chance!

Thanks everyone for the responses. I will check some places out.

Mrs MacBride: At £20 each I may take up your suggestion to make one!

You should have a go at baking it, they're easy to make if you've got a bit of time. The galette de rois can be ridiculously overpriced (£20 for one at Madeleine!). Good luck.

Yes definitely the French bakery on the Pavement (called Madeleine I think) and also Paul, I have bought some at both. But only in season (I.e. the first 2-3 weeks of January). However I have only bought the almond ones (frangipane) not sure if they do the apple version at all.

Try the French bakery on the Pavement near clapham common. If that fails Poilane in Elisabeth street - sorry not very local but not too far either.

You can ask Deli Boutique on St John Hill - ask Erwan he is the owner

Or Chanteroy in Southfield

I meant local to nappy valley. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Now I am thinking maybe Paul might sell them - but I don't recall seeing them in Paul. However, it doesn't need to be a French bakery - where I grew up our local bakery chain sold these and that wasn't in France.

I m not exactly sure what you mean and you havent specified whereabout in France, but pretty much all bakeries in France can make to order. I would call a few of them and ask.

I know that it's not exactly the season, but I am looking for somewhere that sells apple tarts similar to French galette des rois (google for a pic). Does anyone know of any local bakeries that sell something like this?
