Hi there! My son's been at Mayfield for over three years and absolutely loves it! He literally runs down the path every morning! When we were looking, we looked at Teddies and Magdalen too among others, but there were numerous things that appealed to us with Mayfield including the size of the garden, which they really do maximise the use of, and the long opening hours were massively helpful when you're both working! We also love that they do things like summer sports days that all the children are involved in (even the babies!) and the parents can come to, as well. The staff are also all really great there, and a lot of them have been there for as long as my son has been going, if not longer, which I think helps to give a really great atmosphere. Happy to chat separately if you have any particular questions.

Hi there,

Can't comment on the nurseries you've mentioned, and not sure of your location, but if you are between Earlsfield and Wimbledon Park then another option worth looking at is the Cooperative Childcare Nursery & Pre-School at the bottom of Arthur Road (so v. conveniently located for Wimbledon Park tube). They have a great space (especially outdoor space) as, unlike so many nurseries in London, they aren't in a converted house but in a purpose-built building. So all on one level, lots of different outdoor areas and a particularly great undercover astro-turf area for the littlest ones. My son has been there for nearly 2 years and about to put our second one there. Highly recommend. They also have great opening hours (7.30-6.30pm) and were certainly on the end of the cheaper end of the spectrum when I looked (I seem to recall Magdalen being c.£200-300 a month more at the top end?!). Bizarrely (as I think they are great) they always seem to have spaces - possibly due to their location. But if you're that side of town, could be worth a look...(and - for what it's worth - I also agree that Teddies was looking tired...albeit that's not really the deciding factor I would hazard...).

We adore Magdalen, they are just opening their new nursery this week in St George's Grove, not sure if that works for you with proximity to the station but it's definitely worth a look xx

Teddies, Magdalen or Mayfield nursery? - recommendations please

My husband and I are in the process of deciding on nurseries in the Earslfield area and would really like some recommendations from local parents. Our daughter will be about a year old when she joins. We've been to Teddies and Mayfield and have a visit booked for Magdalen next week. We felt there were pros and cons of Teddies and Mayfield. We were initially quite set on Teddies based on proximity to the station and Ofsted reviews but then it felt a little worn. The staff at Mayfield seemed really engaged and we were impressed by the owner but then it's a little less conveniently located and I'm perhaps still missing that warm fuzzy feeling about it. We've never visited nurseries before so weren't sure what to expect. Any recommendations/advice would be much appreciated!
