The new place - The Dentist just opposite Waitress in Balham is great and I have also heard amazing things about the Dental Clinique as well.
Good luck whichever way you decide to go!

Kate

I can thoroughly recommend Shadi who works at the Confidential Clinic on St Johns Road. He's great with both adults and children - the hygienist Lauren is also fab. :D

Hi Twogirls. I'm really sorry you had a bad time at IndigoLittle. I know how horrid a bad dental experience can be.
However, just to be fair to them, my experience was completely different. I had a dental emergency while in France - a tooth with a root canal split and become infected. Not only did Dr Little call me in France for what turned into a long 'phone consult, she arranged an appointment for me on what is usually her day off, got hold of X-rays from my old dentist, booked an appointment on a contingency basis with an oral surgeon in case the tooth was difficult to extract and then took it out herself very straightforwardly with absolutely no pain, trauma etc. There were also emails both before and after the extractions to check everything was OK.
I've also had check-ups to monitor a possibly dodgy filling for no charge.
So, just to give another view. And best of luck with finding another dentist.

We have been using Balham Dental Care, 19 Chestnut Grove, for the past 8 years. Happy with it, and is both NHS and private

I also recommend Confidental at Clapham Junction. Caoimhe is great with the kids and you can have NHS and private treatments. I have been going there to her for more than 10 years.

i have had reasonably major work done at Ten Dental - root canal and 2 crowns replaced - I was really pleased with their work.

Try The Dentist on Bedford Hill in Balham. Just opened, great modern facility, and one of the most thorough and painless checkups and hygiene cleans I've had in a long time!

Best of all the prices were much better than Ten Dental just across the street....

I would personally not recommend Clapham South dental, as I had an awful experience with my 4 year old there after she had an accident. I would recommend Ten Dental Balham, brilliant dentists, reception staff are very friendly and Annika is great with kids.

I used to go privately to Battersea Rise Dental, but moved myself and children to Clapham South Dental, as the children are covered there under the NHS, which has saved me a lot of money, for what I see as very little difference in the level of care. Both are good.

My bills for both the dentist and hygienist are less, not massively so, maybe £20 less per session, but it all adds up, and I felt I was being encouraged to go too many times to the private place, 3-4 times a year for the hygienist, whereas Clapham South said twice is perfectly fine. Privately they wanted way more X-rays as well, nice earner. (Both tell me to floss more but I think I knew that already!) I am lucky that I have good teeth and haven't required much work. I have had slightly tricky fillings in both places, privately you are given numbing gel, soothing music, videos, and more TLC, Clapham South has been a bit more functional (brutal) but I just take a neurofen before I go.

At Clapham South the kids have always seen the same dentist and he is really nice and good with them, they have been fitted in for various emergencies quickly and easily, and been sorted out. The post check-up "have a sticker" choice is more extensive privately, but that is hardly the overriding consideration.

Plus..........it was Clapham South Dental that Usain Bolt dropped into after the 2012 Olympics as a friend of his worked there, not sure if that it is still the case but gets the kids there enthusiastically!

Ten Dental in Balham (next to Waitrose) is brilliant - I can highly recommend Johannes and Ben. The rest of my family go to Glow on Northcote Road but I think Ten has the edge.

Clapham South Dental is charmless, expensive and always runs late. But it is open very early, very late and on Sundays and is right by the tube. So it's irritatingly convenient, which is why go!
