I had a very hardcore timber specialist work on my house (family friend) and he was against most of the usual window companies on the grounds that they did not use good enough wood. I want to stay in my house forever, so it was important to me that the best quality was used. I spent weeks researching this and it was a nightmare. I came to the conclusion that Accoya wood was the best (engineered pine) BUT most companies that use it have months lead time. I really liked SPS Timber Windows but the lead time was 6 months! With builders on site I needed windows in 6 weeks time. In the end I was recommened Timbawood by a builder who works on big houses in Chelsea/Richmond. They have a factory outisde London, which I duly visited. They managed to fit me in by making the guys work at the weekend. They installed the day they said they would and so far so good. They are covered in plastic as we are currently painting but I will report if they are not good, which I hope not as they were expensive... but the customer service has been exceptional. The windows are also made in England, which mattered to me as it meant they were controlled. I did not want to spend an enormous amount on windows made abroad and that arrived entirely painted in the UK. How could I be sure what wood was used? I would certainly highly recommend them.

Avoid Wandsworth Sash Windows like the plague

I've used this company twice
http://www.thesashwindowman.com/
and they've been really good and well priced

We used RG Windows Ltd (http://www.rgwindows.co.uk/) to replace all our windows about seven years ago.

They still look great after all those years, and perform well.

RG Windows also manufacture for a lot of other companies, so by going directly to them you can cut out the middle man. Radoslav Kirev, the owner, is very hands on and is normally doing the survey personally.

we used Wandsworth sash windows (or sash windows london as they are also now known) and had the biggest nightmare ever. When we ordered we had massive delays (13 weeks to get the windows, promised 6 weeks), most of the windows made/painted wrong. some windows even had the wrong glass in! 2 years on - we have just spent alot of money getting them draft proofed, the windows are cracking outside and water was coming in on one of the frames. the list goes on... As for the guys that run it, well they don't care for their customers at all as like other people have, you have to take them to court.

Hi.
I know a few. We've used them for years. Why not drop me an email to david@beirneandsons.com telling me which type of windows you need.
Wooden casement, Sash, Upvc, Aluminium, Crittal etc and we'll get the ball rolling.
