You can't legally have an au pair from the USA, not sure about the other countries, unless of course the individual has right to work in the U.K. themselves e.g. being a dual national.
Are you sure an au pair is what you need? As you you need lots of hours - I believe there are rules as to how much they work but could be 25-30 hours.

Hi all,

Having trawled the minefield that is getting an au pair from outside the EU or tier five countries can anyone confirm to me that it's not possible to have an au pair from the US, S America or Asia?

I've had masses of applications from girls around the world who would be amazing but as I understand it they can only come here on tourist visas (3 months max) or student visas (working only 20hrs a week) - neither working for us.

Is there some kind of legal loophole that I can explore?

Also if anyone knows a loving au pair plus who is looking for a position please do let me know.

Pocket money will be very generous for the right person!
