Re: Side return and basement conversion

Hi there, I am one of the Directors and owners of Estbury Basements and we could definitely help you with this project. We specialise in basements but also undertake side returns and lofts as well as just waterproofing. We are more than happy to do any size job, big or small. We have done small cellar conversions up to new build houses and full house renovations with basements. For more information please have a look at our website www.estbury.com

We do also have a company called 'Estbury Design' too but this is an Architectural and Engineering practice which can help you obtain the necessary consents and requirements needed to undertake your project. We can do this without being engaged for the actual project itself but it just means you get to use our specialists and if we do win the job we get to work with people we know.

With regards to the actual project we can do as much or as little as you wish. We can just undertake the structure and waterproofing which is the real specialist part and even if you didn't engage us for this I would urge you to use a 'basement specialist' as this needs to be done by an experienced company that has the correct insurances and can give you the best guarantees. If you wanted us to do the project from design, to build, through to fit-out (finishes) and the side return we can also do all this under one roof under one company. That way you only have 'one throat to choke'!! and one point of contact.

Please feel free to contact me directly or by all means please call the office on 0800 0096644.

Good Luck

Richard Peel

Boyarsky Murphy has a really good reputation in the architectural world.

When choosing an architect always check to make sure they are on the Architects Registration Board register - which means they are qualified to practice.

Hi Chloe,

This is exactly what we do at Bethell Projects!

We are a project management company who have contracted builders and architects who we work with.

We are therefore able to help you with the whole process from, planning applications and design, to making sure we are on schedule and finally dressing and purchasing soft furnishings etc.

We have carried out many projects locally and have lots of clients who are always happy speak to people regarding prospective projects.

Take a look at our website to check out some of our projects and feel free to email Rebecca on info@bethellprojects.co.uk if you would like to arrange for a free consultation.

PASK London. I don't have any affiliation with them but we did a full renovation and basement excavation and remain very happy with the work.

"I was wandering regarding Estbury, they are two separate companies; one for basement and the other one called Estbury designs which does side return extensions. Any comments on them? Just in case I end up doing the side return only..."

I don't think this is quite right - Estbury does basements and the actual building work leaving you a concrete shell, and Estbury Designs does the fit out of shell to make it livable

I too have only heard excellent things about them, and the owner/manager is a very nice and straight-talking man

Have only heard good things about Estbury - my understanding was they were more about larger projects like basements but I could be wrong.

They've been around a very long time which, in itself, is a pretty good recommendation.

Hi Seb,
Thanks a lot for your advices.
I was wandering regarding Estbury, they are two separate companies; one for basement and the other one called Estbury designs which does side return extensions. Any comments on them? Just in case I end up doing the side return only...

Hi there

I have just recommended Jon Cash a local building and construction firm for another smaller project but yours is completely up his street. Based in Sutton Jon and his team work in SW London. Importantly they Design and Build. They specialise in residential properties. Jon is straight forward, he will give you good advice about the project and he is of course reliable. Please contact him on 07590 260 051 020 3627 0051. Good luck and best wishes
Brigitte

Hi
My take is this:

APT Renovation no idea
Davide Di Martino no idea
Estbury excellent but tend to do bigger projects, this sounds too small
Nightingale Design and build: heard good things
Battersea Builders: no idea
Lifestyle design and built: no idea
Simbiosi Architects", "studio rose': no idea
Clara Bee: heard good things
Boyarsky Murphy Architects": no idea
Should i get the architect and builders separately? Do I need an interior designer?
It depends on budget. I would get a designer to quote and show you what they can do and do the same for the builder and see if you think the margin is worth it

Hi Chloe,

That sounds like an exciting project!

We are independent project managers for residential building projects and can help you through every stage of your project.

We'd be more then happy to meet you for a coffee and talk you through all your options (including designers, processes, builders etc).

Thanks,
Andy
