I have just used Jonathan Lewis and can confirm he's good, reasonable, on time, came when he said he would. Perfect.

Hi I used NVN to find a recommendation and used Daren from Love trees Ltd. They did a great job on my holly tree. They had to come through the house but brought their own dust sheets etc... The garden was then cleared and tidier than when they started. A big thumbs up and thanks to this site for helping me find them. :)

I have used Jonathan Lewis as well over the years, and would always call him, local, quick to respond, knows his stuff, reasonable prices, professional and a nice guy.

I also found it true that once you start pruning/reducing/whatever the right term is they grow so fast, you then get drawn into a cycle of maintenance, and therefore cost, so also something to discuss with whoever you find.

Having several trees we have used many different surgeons over the years, you have to be very specific about how much you want off, just saying a "prune" will not give them enough guidance, and they should be able to advise you on what is appropriate for your tree, a pruned tree will grow back much faster than it was growing before. We have used Ed Payne and been happy. Also used Altenberg, Arbour Landscapes and someone from croydon, all been fine

Thank you all for your recommendations.

We went with Ed Payne, and are hugely disappointed having asked for a prune, we got a decapitation.

Will not be using them again and would not recommend them!

Kx

ps. will try prestigious next year!
