Ok, it has hazelnuts on top, but maybe close enough?
Enjoy!
Thanks Sid! ... I'm off to Lidl tomorrow and try some (Ritter Sport is a new one on me! )

This has inspired me to make some from a bit of Antiguan rum I still have left over. Rum and raisin is my favourite ice cream flavour but £5.50 for a bar of chocolate wouldn't make me buy.
Ah! There's a thought... Thanks Mrs C M!

Why dont you make it yourself for you to enjoy?
Buy good quality chocolate, soak tge raisins in rum, melt the chocolate and pipe it in mould, add the raisins and out in the fridge. Job done. Enjoy.
You're quite right Supergirl, but I did that last year and it was...

...a.disaster !

Well I very rarely drink spirits - just the very occasional G&T on a hot day , so my "drinks cabinet" is chock-a-block with all sorts of oddities - some going back 30 years.. A barely touched bottle of Melon Liquor anyone? Plus odd gifts and Christmas presents over the years.

But I did have a bottle of very high quality rum that I won at a Beatrix Potter school fete ...oh ... 10 years ago...

I melted Green and Blacks dark chocolate and soaked the raisins in the rum over the weekend...it was delicious

But it was also so potent that three chunks would send me over the drink drive limit and eight chunks saw me totally sozzled!

It's surprising how much alcohol a single raisin can soak up!

Mind you it was something called "Danish Navy Rum" at 55% proof...

But you are right - I may well give it a go but use less of the hard stuff - thanks!

If I decided to treat myself to a £5 chocolate bar I would definitely consider it! However, for a peckish after dinner I am more than happy with a good Green & Black, its range of flavour and its prices ;)
However, check out the Ritter Sport range: certainly not the same quality, but for about 1 quid you can take home a rum raisins + hazelnut block.

What no opinions?

This R&R decline is worse than I thought!

Sorry to spring a bit of market research on you...

Cadbury's used to make "Old Jamaica" a delicious combination of dark chocolate and rum-soaked raisins...yum!

Two years ago they stopped making it - and searching the net the only way you seem to get an equivalent is a Cadbury's bar called "Old Gold" ...problem solved you may think!

But "Old Gold" is only made and sold in Australia and New Zealand - and to import a small bar would cost you about £15!

Other internet searches have come up with nothing - and to rub salt in my wounds Oddono's have stopped making Rum and Raisin ice cream...

So I have approached the excellent De Rosier chocolate and coffee shops and makers of all sorts of delicious choccies at Garratt Lane and Southfields with a view to make a limited run of Rum and Raisin dark chocolate bars at their regular price of around £5.50 a pop.

They are not totally convinced (R&R seems to divided opinion more than "Marmite") hence me wanting to canvas your thoughts.

Suffice to say the quality of the chocolate and ingredients of a De Rosier bar would far outpass Mr Cadbury's efforts!

So opinions please!

Good or bad?

Is it something you would buy?

Yours

Willie Wonka
