@anyone who has been to Dr McCarthy, could you confirm her pricing?  I have looked on her website but it seems to just be a holding page at present.  Any further info much appreciated! Thank you :)

I can totally appreciate that the first time you have it done, you are very nervous and go to a great specialist.
When you have it done regularly, and 3 areas, as those of us in our mid 40s night need to do, you become a bit more price sensitive. Of course some people are better than others in their “bedside manner”, it is a very routine treatment and there are many professionals who can do it. Every person who has ever done Botox on my face has been a qualified nurse or doctor.

I have now been going to SW11 Clinic on Lavender Hill. I used to go to the Glasshouse but they were more expensive. I have been very happy with both. And I don’t look frozen :-) you just need to ask that they do a small amount first and then do a top up.

A couple of months ago I also had cheek fillers, lips and the lines that run from your nose fillers (in separate sessions). For those (close friends only!) I told, they admired how natural it all looked, and that they would have never thought I have been “done”. I have had some people comment that I look “well” or “rested”. And yes I agree it’s addictive (and very expensive). As says Dolly Parton - “it costs a lot of money to look this cheap” :-)

Best of luck, if anyone wants any more details please PM me.

Hello!

Thank you to the group for posting your considerations in regards to Botox - it served as a great reference for providers in the area.  I had treatments previously, but have since moved and needed a new provider.  After much consideration, I too decided to make an appointment with Dr. Fiona McCarthy.  She exceeded my expectations and so, I felt that it was important to also share my positive experience.  From a business perspective, I appreciate her prompt communication and scheduling.  From a clinical perspective - in a word: EXCELLENT.  Most importantly, she is quite knowledgeable as well as skilled.  The Botox treatment was worked so well - less wrinkled, worn out look and still natural.

Furthermore, whilst visiting with her and feeling quite comfortable with her beside manner, I decided to also bring up my discontent with ongoing cystic acne.  For years I have issues regulating the breakouts, despite visits to multiple dermatologists and aestheticians, along with hundreds spent on products, facials, and peels, and every attempt at positive nutrition, exercise, and stress changes.  As I explained my situation Dr. McCarthy expressed a clear understanding of the issue and struggle - which encouraged me to trust her recommendations.  We discussed a skincare regimen specifically for me which included prescription Obagi to start and then eventually products that can be purchased at a pharmacy or Boots.  She even took the time to write out the skincare plan for me, which has made following the instructions a simple task.  After two weeks on the regimen I started to notice a difference.  4 weeks in and my face is the clearest it has been in years!  Honest.  The day a coworker commented on a massive improvement in my complexion, I just about jumped for joy!  Dr. McCarthy's knowledge of the condition as well as skincare products has made such a difference in my life!

The cherry on top: As a healthcare provider myself, I am truly inspired by her lovely, warm personality and bedside manner - combined with her knowledge and skill - she is again: EXCELLENT!  I highly recommend.

And to be clear, there is no financial incentive for this post.  I am sharing in gratitude and in the hopes that any others with unwanted wrinkles or discouraging dermatologic conditions can find resolve with Dr. McCarthy.  Best wishes!

sorry totally forgot to say that I did get Botox.  Only in 1 place.  Dr Fiona said I did not need it on other places (kind as I'm over 40 with three kids) and to get the natural look I just needed to try one place first.  Didn't hurt as much as I thought.  She got me to breathe in and wriggle my toes.. :).   I went back 2 weeks later for a follow-up and got to see a before and after photo - which was quite interesting actually.  Also as she is an oncologist too - I asked her about sun damage and she put me onto a friend of hers to get my moles checked and advised me on a suncream for everyday use that does not belong to my kids.. .  Win-win really.

I followed advice here and contacted Dr Fiona McCarthy who was very knowledgeable and put me at ease. What I loved is her knowledge on skincare which was fantastic, she pointed me in the direction of great products at boots mixed with a few skincuitucals products and its amazing. Highly recommend her...
She does free consultation too...

Honestly, I have a negative attitude to Botox (perhaps because I am only 20 years old), but I would advise you to do face-building. The effect will already be noticeable in a couple of weeks, it's free and forever)

I have seen really poor results so only go to a specialist in London. Michael Praegar. He is expensive but I can move my face and no one knows. I’ve yet to have a decent haircut outside of central London so I wouldn’t try Botox with a moonlighter either.

I go to Dr Fiona McCarthy in Clapham South-She is a local mum of 2 and super lovely and friendly (think she works as a cancer specialist in her day job!) -I go to her house in the evenings-Her number is 07891143481

She is very keen on the natural look and I'm always pleased with the results :)

Good luck but be warned-It is very addictive!

None of my friends live locally and I don't fancy travelling outside of London to have it done so I'm wondering if anyone has any local recommendations? Preferably near Balham?
Thank you!
At Gertrude & Ivy, we have been working with Skin Philosophy, a skincare clinic in Barnes (SW13), for a number of months now - they are highly recommended!

http://www.skinphilosophy.com

All staff are trained to the Highest Qualification within the industry, and the team is led by experienced Medical Doctors, that specialise in Aesthetics.

Whilst at Team G&I, we have not had botox, the prescriptive treatments we have received for our skin conditions have worked wonders!

Do give Annalouise or Maria a call at Skin Philosophy, they would be delighted to arrange a free consultation: 0208 3929 411

With thanks,
Team G&I

I’ve had mine done by Dr Shadi Eddin at Retreat Spa in Putney. He’s very gentle and listens to your needs.

( I also know Shubhra personally and she’s lovely!)

Good luck

Cannot recommend Shubhra at ProDenta on St John's Hill (5 mins from Clapham Junction so not too far).

She's thorough, friendly and extremely well priced. I used to go the the Glasshouse and whilst I was happy there, Shubhra is better value and I feel like the results last longer.

Good Luck

You're right beside the amazing Mica Engel - Cosmetica - Hildreth Street. Think she's in Tatler guide, used to work for vv expensive clinic in Harley Street, very good rep. I'm sure they offered a special discount to NVNers as they were so pleased with their reviews on here when they first moved to Balham - but that may have expired.
