I have my kids legos in a toolbox like this. We sort them as per colour. We have around 4-5 of these.

All the lego is divided by colour into separate drawers.

Completed, larger items are on shelves. And all the instruction manuals are in a couple of lever arch files.

My DS stores his in a large plastic box with handles & the smaller pieces in one of the plastic suitcases with dividers that some of his lego actually came in. But to honest it's often all over the floor in the playroom so I just sweep it before our cleaner comes with a dustpan & brush that I keep especially for this :lol:
