My husband looked into this too but was put off by the fact that he would need to use glasses for close up in his late 40s (when everyone gets long-sighted). Worth asking about as short-sighted people generally can see fine close up without correction.

I also went to David Garfield at Moorfields and it was the best money I ever spent. So communicative so I felt safe and haven’t had any problems since. I had it done at least 15 years ago. Highly recommend him

Another vote for Moorfields. Have a look through the different consultants (you pay for consultant and hospital time as obv a non NHS procedure). But you get the best eye hospital and Drs in the country. My consultation was £150 as a guide and very comprehensive tests for this to show whether it’s a suitable option for you- and if so what type of laser surgery.

I’ve had it done at Moorefields. I did it about 8 years ago and am so happy. I think the only place to get it done is the worlds leading eye hospital!

One of my old friends is a senior ophthalmologist. She has worked for a number of clinics in the past. She never had it done until she joined the London vision clinic and it's the only place she recommends. I had a consultation there and was very impressed. About 5 of our friends have had it done there and thought it was excellent.

I had a consultation with David Gartry at Moorfields - very detailed, lots of tests and no pressured sell. So much so that in the end i decided not to proceed as it wouldn't have hugely benefited me, since I don't currently need glasses for computer work but would after laser surgery.

Hi there. I got my eyes done in Feb and as a cliche it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I got an incredible recommendation from Johnathan jagger who used to do the queens eyes. He said if he got laser eye surgery then he would go to Ali. I wrote about it on my blog which explains everything but any questions please get in touch xx

Independent advice for laser eye surgery

by Ginalb » Tue Jan 02, 2018 7:14 am

Happy new year...

My husband has been to 2 clinics regarding laser eye surgery and received very conflicting advice. Can anyone recommend an independent optician or clinic who could help answer his questions?

Many thanks
