We've got a place in their new Battersea/Clapham branch which is opening in September. They are going to the Chelsea one in the meantime which is fine too but I am so excited for the new year as their commute will be ten minutes!

My little one started at 4 and thrived! The improvement has been significant and they are great at really encouraging and supporting children during the early stages. I was initially not going to send mine on Saturday but they asked for it as they wanted to learn Chess with the new friends they made there.

Also, I think they offer such generous opening times for the benefit of the children, and not to pressure anyone into sending their children all day/every day. Having said that, I can only recommend sending the kids every day as they really learn to do their homework thoroughly and effectively every day, which is just a priceless routine for our bubs to get into.

They pick up from any school and the tutoring hours don't start until the child has arrived at the study house. Mine come from two different schools and they were more than happy to accommodate this.

My little one (6 years) is in love with the place! I thought it might be a bit much too but given that he had to do the homework anyways I thought we'll try it for the first year. Never thought he would like it that much though tbh, and we have already signed up for 2018/2019.

This whole nanny debate is my fault due to the post title but the Study House has nothing to do with what a Nanny does. I simply meant that instead of getting a Nanny who ferries the kids to their after school activities, I can become a member and nobody will have to drive to the tutors/piano teachers/chess class.

This really should be in the schools forum I reckon, anybody know how to move it?

By "them" do you mean your children?! The reason we have signed up is so that I get to have more time with my children without having to worry about any academic stuff. We used to do a minimum of two hours homework/instrument practice a day and now they simple do it somewhere else with tutors.


I pay for both junior and senior memberships and feel totally happy to. They have saved me regarding my eldest 13+ exams as I was starting to get really anxious. I now have the option of four hours a day, six hours on Saturdays, and we get full-time during the holidays which seems so generous to me. Their tutors are exceptional and really seem to know what they're doing. It is a lot of money but for such a premium service its actually quite cheap.

I don't really think you can compare this to a Nanny, as a Nanny offers completely different services?! But I guess it depends on how you want to structure the after school time for your child and I can see that for some parents academia isn't as important.

They actually structure your hours to your child's timetable so my children come home at 6:30 which is the same time I get home from work. They get dropped off at home with all homework done, tutoring, Piano practice and a Language lesson under their belt which means we get the whole evening to ourselves for quality time and my nagging days are finally over!

Yes, I don't see how that is expensive? A good nanny is at least £1600, (I paid our old nanny £2400 net so I've saved myself some money) and she does not tutor or work on Saturday.

You really cannot compare this to an hourly nanny. They do not nanny at the Study house but provide tutoring for school, languages and music - similar to what's on offer in Asia. I only pay £949 per month because my kids are under 11 which is a real bargain given a good tutor will set you back anything between £50-£100 per hour.

That is eye wateringly expensive. And when do these poor kids get a chance to play?!

Oh! 2K is very expensive! But by all means, if it works go ahead. Especially if your children love it.

Just something to consider: I used to have an after school nanny, which was actually a cheaper option. She played with my son, cooked our supper (and tidied up the kitchen), and took my child to clubs and play dates. She wasn't great with homework so I did that after supper.

My son absolutely loved her. All for £10 per hour, 3 hours a day from school pick up till I was home. I did it 3 days a week and it was heaven. Took all the stress out of my day. She was always happy to stay for babysitting if necessary, or come a different day of the week if needed.

I am sure those sort of angels are heard to find though.
