I think I have a good nose for the smelly stuff. Went there about 3 years ago and they claimed that I have a problem where I grind my teeth and that I need to buy a mouth guard to wear at night to protect my teeth (costing hundreds of pounds). They also said that an old filling needed to be replaced which I hadn’t had any problems with.
I was stunned as I get dental check ups regularly and none of my prior dentists had said a word. I was very suspicious of the online reviews and felt they were just trying to fleece me. I went to Ten Dental on Balham who said there was nothing abnormal about my teeth and to me, confirmed that I was right to be suspicious of their super reviews online and their sense of superiority.
I told Mrs BB that I felt they were dodgy and ripping people off - she thought I was wrong. Then they also said she needed the mouth guard thing! She came to my conclusion quite quickly.
Been very happy with Ten Dental ever since.
Dear BalhamBloke,
Teeth grinding or Bruxism is physically evident on teeth. When we diagnose teeth grinding, we take photos or 3D scans to show our patients the signs of tooth wear etc. We always show evidence, so that it is clear to our patients, why we have reached such a conclusion. In London, tooth grinding is very common. However, treating Teeth Grinding is not as common as in America, Canada or Australia, for instance, as well as most of our European Counterparts.
As time goes on, the effects of tooth wear due to grinding become worse, with front teeth becoming shorter and function being slowly affected. As a preventative practice, we feel that it is our duty to discuss the options available to treat this issue. It is left entirely up to our patients as to whether they wish to take up our advice.
I am sorry that you felt that we were not to be trusted. We try our best to be transparent about the care that we recommend, and take this duty very seriously.
The Dentists at Ten Dental are professionals and therefore equally likely to diagnose and treat this condition when present.
Pleased to hear that you have found a dentist that you are happy with.
Best wishes,
Indigo Little
