Dear fellow NVN mothers and fathers
I thought I would post something on here after chatting to some of the other mothers from Sparkies Nursery yesterday, who's children, like my eldest, have just moved on to start Reception at school. We were talking about the big differences between nursery and school, and specifically about how incredibly special our nursery was. Our children all had the best possible start in eduction through their constant 'learning through play' there, but more than that, it was always supported with genuine love and care by all the staff. As we were chatting we all thought we needed to somehow let other mothers know about this - it's all about word of mouth in our area...and so here I am writing this!
My youngest has just started at Sparkies and already loves it. It is run by Grace and her fabulous team of staff, which includes her mother, daughters, even hubby works hard at special events rustling up a million sandwiches and cakes in the kitchen, and comparing the christmas or end of year events. The other staff members are very special individuals and each is assigned to different children as they settle in, and take them through their 2 years of learning and play there.
It has an incredibly caring family feel, and when I broke down in tears those first few drop offs, (when you dont want to let your little one go), and Grace hugged me, I thought I was the only one who cried. I have since seen her hug and comfort so many other mothers!
The activities, the fun, the learning, the love, the community feel of this nursery cannot be matched. I am an ex Primary School Teacher myself, and write children's books, having visited so many local nurseries and schools. And before I sent my son there, I could tell that this nursery had something special. I was also taken aside by a mother at one of my book readings, and given this kind of review of Sparkies by her - she said she just wanted to spread the word!
The outside space was the other factor that really drew me in. It is next door to the doctors surgery, and I had seen this outside grassed area with children playing each day. It is HUGE compared to every other outside space I have seen round here. There is no other nursery that has this kind of area for our children to play freely outside - essential to their physical development - and it is full of cars and toys and areas for them to get curious about the world.
So that's what I wanted to tell you all about! As we were all saying yesterday, we all have 1,2, or 3 children, and we are so glad we picked Sparkies as their nursery. It has been a place where they could feel safe, loved, cared for, free to play, learn, explore inside and outside, and feel a real sense of happiness being part of the Sparkies community. Pass it on.....
