St Ives is gorgesous, you must visit the Porthminster Cafe. Best fish and chips in the world and a rather nice rose too! The beach at Porthminster is great too especially for little children.

We also love Sennen Cove; certainly one of my favourite beaches in the world. The sea is freezing so you'll need wetsuits for the kids and windbreaks too. Sometimes there is a beach nanny there and again the cafe is good especially to feed the kids after a day at the beach.

Look out for the farmer's markets while you're there, certainly nicer than doing all the shopping at Tesco!, they seem to pop up all over the place.

And it is really does pour with rain (when we were there last August we had three days of thunderous rain, hail and temperatures of about 12 degrees) there's a good cinema in Penzance!!

Have a great holiday.

Loads of things to do! I grew up in St Ives, so may be a bit biased...but, the beaches are clean and safe in the town, Porthmeor is the surfing beach, but Porthminster is calmer and good for kids. Crabbing onthe harbour, sandcastle building, walk up to the top of the island and check out the tiny chapel. There's the Tate and the Barbara Hepworth Museum, (which my 4 year old loves!) and plenty of shops and restaurants for mum and dad.
Depends what you're all into, there are lots of interesting places to walk nearby, as well as checking out Lands End - if only to have your photo taken by the sign!
The Minack theatre, on the cliffs is beautiful, they have matinees and evening performances, and usually have something for kids over the summer, its lovely just to go and see it, and then go down to Porthcurno Beach and swim in the turquoise sea!
St Michael's Mount is fab, if you time the tide right you can walk across the causeway and get the boat back or vice versa, it's a bit of a steep climb to the top in places, but worth it whe you get there.
also, try the Eden Project on the way home... Really interesting - you could spend the whole day.
There are so many places, i could bore on for hours! If you want some more info, or let me know where you're staying I can give you come more tips!
Have an amazing holiday!

Advice on Cornwall

Hi all you Cornwall regulars,
We are going with our 5, 3 and 2 year olds to a place near St Ives this summer. Does anyone know that area and have any tips for good child friendly beaches/days out/wet weather activities etc?
Grateful for any advice.
Thanks
