Hi nkoidl

Nappy Valley Net is a guide for South West London. You may not get many responses here for East London. I thought I'd let you know as I don't want to leave you hanging. Please do try local forums serving East London for specific recommendations for your area. Otherwise, we hope you enjoy the non location related discussions on this forum which are of course relatable to all parents wherever you are!

Don't know about East London as you're a tad out of the Nappy Valley area of Wandsworth and Richmond. Your best bet is to put this on local forums in your area.

My only advice for nurseries is visit many and decide based on the actual staff that will look after your child. Managers and owners of nurseries turn around fairly frequently it seems, but if you can find a nursery where the staff, (the actual carers) have a relatively low turn over and you have a good feeling for them, then that's the one for your family.

Other factors will be important to you such as if you need a day care that opens at 8am or before and closes at 6pm or after or if half a day is enough for you. Some nurseries only offer half days for example. Also many of the state nurseries only offer half days and if they have full days then they close at around 3:30pm.

Also, I would take Ofsted reports on nurseries with a pinch of salt. The best thing to do is visit the nursery, and then ask around on local forums or people in the community. They will tell you more than any report can.

We live in Shoreditch and wondering what the best nurseries are East London? Ideally somewhere within a 15-20mins walk or 15 mins car ride.

The same for schools as well.

Thanks in advance.
