Phew, I hope you are right NSC. I've lost track of what's happening with Crossrail but hope they dumped that idea of having a huge air-vent on the Common.

Does anyone know what a group of workmen/surveyor types were doing yesterday on the Bolingbroke Grove side of Wandsworth Common, on the football pitches pretty much opposite Bolingbroke School?  They were digging out lots of divots in the turf and had a mini-digger with a long drill attached, which seemed to be for the purpose of drilling a pretty deep hole... Some kind of geological survey?  What for, I wonder?
