I am a journalist and write about beauty products with a leading expert so I get to try and test hundreds of them which is great. I do believe that you get what you pay for... good-quality products are effective. We love brands such as ILA, Omorovicza, balance me, Green People, The Organic Pharmacy, Mauli, all of whom are natural, backed by science. The leading brands are often not good at all, as a lot of their money goes on advertising and marketing - my expert says that some of them, even big names, are the beauty equivalent of a cheeseburger. It does matter what you put on your face as the skin absorbs it, so personally I avoid chemical-heavy formulations.
It's true though that good skin is based on several factors: genetics, not smoking, drinking lots of water, staying out of the sun etc.
I am doing a bit of PR for a wonderful new product called Rock Rose Beauty. The founder, Lindsay, discovered a cream in Portugal that contained rock rose oil - a known healer. She was going through chemo at the time and after a few weeks noticed that her skin was looking amazing. So she has developed a range of products based around rock rose, all containing the best quality essential oils. The scent of one of the ranges is more intense too - jasmine, rock rose, evening primrose, geranium, rose, etc – as people with cancer often lose or diminish their sense of smell. The moisturising balm, healing balm and face oil are available through livebetterwith.com - a cancer and wellbeing site. The rest of the range will launch this month at rockrosebeauty.co.uk - wonderful products.
I am sorry but I stand by my original comments about Arbonne. I thought the products were very average and I hated the hard sell approach. Pyramid selling is illegal, but it's similar in my view... just as it is with Utility Warehouse, etc. Each to their own though - but any company that promises reps huge commission and cars etc must be sacrificing the quality of the products somewhere along the line.
