Hello, I'm an experienced Quantity Surveyor by trade that lives locally and happy to have a chat? A lot of what we do involves drafting up JCT contracts and making sure you are using the right JCT form. Pls DM if of interest.

Do you have an architect/project manager acting for you? If so, they should be able to help guide you. But I assume that your builder may be doing the full design and build for you, in which case you probably need to speak to a construction lawyer to advise, but there will of course then be fees involved and it’s a fairly specialist area and not something you may find at a high street firm. It’s not my area but there are construction lawyers at my firm and happy to discuss if you want to pm me.

JCT Contracts - who can guide me through this?

We are about to begin a full scale renovation that will take around 5 - 6 months.  There is limited structural work but full rewire, new plumbing and central heating and then new bathrooms, kitchen, replastering, carpentry, interior decoration etc etc.  The builder has suggested using a JCT contract and we now have a copy but are at a bit of loss in terms of working our way through it, fully understanding the terms and knowing which bits are key, what can be crossed out and what should be added.
Can anyone advise as to what they did or who we can instruct to help assist us with this.
