I suppose one question is does that mean ANYONE who breaks the law can be evicted.

Now that would be something...

Absolutely, well done to the clean up crew. If there's any way to help with the cleaning, I would love to know. Makes me feel proud that so many want to help out.

My feeling is we all need to get back out there as soon as we can and spend our money in CJ again so the looters don't win. It's so unfair that the businesses should suffer because of a mindless minority who didn't care where they were as long as they got their free trainers.

I am just back from Clapham Junction where the police have advised that the streets will be ready for locals to clean/take back at 1pm....we are advised to wear tough shoes, gloves and to bring a broom! It looks terrible out there. So much distruction. All hands to the deck for this one!

Hope everyone is okay. We live just off Lavender Hill and couldn't get over the amount of people just strolling along with their newly acquired wares. Poor Clapham, it looks like a war scene this morning. It was so terrifying last night though, I really hope that it doesn't kick off again tonight..I just don't understand as to why (when we all knew it was going to happen when rumours were circulating at 5pm) that the police weren't in force outside Debenhams to prevent it getting started!

went out at 6am to check whether couple of shops friend owns off ncote road were ok - they are fine thankfully. spent last night watching kid after kid walk up battersea rise with JD sports bags, bin liners, electrical goods, all teenagers many girls and all from the local estates - no doubt it will happen again tonight - thing is what are the local residents going to do ... the police are under numbered, at some stage we have to take control ourselves ...

I hope they will put a curfew tonight and the next few nights, amongst other things like a much stronger response from the police.

What is the state of CJ this morning? We are on hols at the moment and saw the news last night.

Hope you will all be safe tonight.

am completely with you as to where are their parents and what on earth goes on (or doesn't) in these homes that allows these kids to roam the streets in the way that they have been and treating it all as some kind of fun. It all gets passed off as a problem of the state but the real issue is in the values, or lack of, of these kids and their inability to see right from wrong and that comes from home. All the reporting has covered "where are the police" - which of course has to be answered - but the feral nature of these kids beggars belief. From the video clips on news and youtube i couldn't believe how young they were and how much pleasure was being derived from the thuggery of their behaviour. Whilst some will have come into the area purely to cause violence many will have been local and every parent should be questioning where their children were last night and taking responsibility to ensure they stay in tonight and subsequent nights. I can't bear the thought of living shoulder to shoulder with these people and have my own children anywhere near near them

What is happening to our city. Where are these children's parents, as reports are coming in some of them are just young teenagers??? Get a curfew, how about the army helping, and get these thugs arrested. It makes me so sad that this is happening in London. We need to protect our families and neighbourhoods from these thugs. Be safe and vigilant.

Yay, London blitz spirit return:
a tweet: #riotcleanup #fightback #clapham #londonriots Meet 8am at Sainsbury's Clapham Junction. Bring bin bags. You in?

and another
#riotcleanup Clapham - meet outside the Falcon pub, 9am. Follow @silv3r for updates

But they have had to evacuate residents around the party shop on Lavendar hill as they are worried about helium canisters and there are 8 fire engines there at the moment (1.50am)

Was going to have an early night, but can't seem to go to bed. My nervous energy and sense of not wasting time means I tidied and cleaned the kitchen whilst listening to LBC and watching sky news...

We watched it all unfold from our window. Hundreds of rioters carrying armfuls of stolen goods. The party shop is on fire now. Truly shocking and terrifying.
