Have you looked at Room for Tea? Short term lets in London - https://www.roomfortea.com we found our lodger through there and Milena (who runs it) is lovely, so speak to her if you can't find something suitable and as she may have someone in mind.
 

Hi,

We are about to undertake an 8 month renovation of our house off Northcote road and will need to move out. We are looking to ideally rent a room in the area perhaps in an attic room which someone may have spare. We both work from 7-6.30pm every day so will be out of the house during this time. I suspect we will driving out of London most weekends as well or we can find somewhere else to be at the weekends to keep out of your way. 

We are a couple in our 30s, non smokers and happy to baby or pet sit the occasional night as well.
