Have you emailed your local councillors? I really hate it too and glad others want to stop the speeding

Fair point Dudette!

On the other side I know councils are reluctant to install a single expensive speed camera in residential side streets - let alone having multiple cameras around a neighbourhood.

A recent campaign around me resulted in a couple of police officers turning up with a radar gun to pacify residents and , possible, "catch" an offender.

Of course everyone who drove down the road instantly saw a dayglo police van and two burly coppers in high-vis from 100 meters away and magically pootled by at 15mph - a waste of time for all concerned!

I completely agree Denward!

Deveroux and Hillier have the same bumps and it is impossible to go fast

One way systems would allow drivers to drive even faster ! Lavender gardens is one way and I was behind a driver last week that was going at least at 60kmph !

No no no to one ways. I would rather have road rage!

As for the OP great initiative. I have asked and asked the council for bigger speed bumps in the main “cut through roads but with zero success!

I know Wakehurst Road has speed bumps perhaps the council should review them as they are failing to do their job if cars can do "twice the limit" as you say - i.e. 40mph. The ones near us on St.Ann's Hill are so high  it is impossible to do more than about 15 miles an hour over them.

Perhaps the cheapest (and therefore quickest) answer is for the council to install 15mph bumps and the problem should disappear.

Well done Northcote Blondie!

I too have been shocked at the driving around those roads. Have you heard how the victim is?

I would like to see alternate one way streets (a la New York) in many banks of streets in Wandsworth.
I am sure that it would help with the congestion, road rage and accidents.

Dangerous driving in Wandsworth

Today a person was run over by a motorist who was speeding out of control and mounted the pavement on Wakehurst Road, near Clapham Common. I'm not sure who it was but I pray they are okay and will recover soon. I've lived around the corner for over eight years and my road and the surrounding roads have been a rat run for despicable motorists the entire time, speeding over double the limit and constantly getting in road rage incidents.  This area, as are many other areas of the borough, is full of thousands of school children every morning and afternoon and the parents and children have to contend with these selfish, idiotic drivers on a daily basis.

I implore anyone who reads this post to please join my campaign to get Wandsworth council to install speed traffic cameras into the streets surrounding Wakehurst such as Northcote Road, Webbs, Road, Leathwaite Road, Wakehurst Road and Broomwood Road, all of which have thousands of school kids crossing them every day.  Unfortunately the only deterrent to reckless driving is a costly fine. Please join me by complaining to Wandsworth council in these areas of their website. Any other areas affected, do please join and add more streets to help us bring safety to our kids.
