Hi,

When we moved my son from cot to bed we gave him a 'sun clock' so he knew when time to call for us.  We left the gate in his doorframe so he could 'open' the door but not wander around the flat.

We gave him a star for each evening that he stayed in bed and a new special stuffed animal for his new bed.  I also set up a potty (with bathmat) in his room so he had an en-suite if he needed it so he didn't require leaving his room.

We were lucky that he was a pretty compliant child though I do not expect the same results with my crazy daughter (we are about to transition at 34 months now that she is potty trained).

Good luck,
Anne

Perhaps you have done this already, but how about, putting the cot back and letting him choose, bed or cot?

Toddler sleep

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts/suggestions. We’re lucky in that our 22 month old has always been a pretty good sleeper asides from when he’s sick. We transitioned him to a toddler bed almost a month ago. At first he transitioned great but the last week he has screamed and screamed refusing to go to bed and has woken up several times in the night. He doesn’t appear sick and it just seems like he doesn’t want to go to bed! He still has 1 nap in the day but at the moment it doesn’t seem to make a difference if he does nap or not. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks!
