Well I'm glad you've asked and put it out there as it can be easy to forget how bad it is for those on low incomes now.

You are right, I have asked before - it's hard to keep up, and we are very anxious not to exploit someone who we trust absolutely and who does an excellent job.  We have decided to go for £65 for 3.5 hours.  We pay when we are away, whether she comes or not, but not if she chooses to take time off.  And we also do 2 weeks bonus, and paid throughout the lockdown when she couldn't come.  Given what's coming down the track we think it's really important, if one can afford to, to err on the side of being generous so we'll be keeping it under review - expect more queries!

Hi Chorister, I think you've asked this before and it got me thinking. I raised to £50 for 3 hours a week so that makes it over £16 p/ hr. I also suggested 5 weeks holiday pay and will give her a 2 weeks Christmas bonus.
If you have a reliable cleaner who does a great job and you intend to keep indefinitely it's important to pay them well, especially considering the cost of living increasing so much. We feel it but our cleaning lady feels it a lot more.

Going rate for a cleaner

Any advice please re the current going rate per hour for an outstanding, completely trustworthy cleaner - we have had ours for so long that despite regular rises we may out of touch with market given inflation - and she would never ask for more.  Thanks in advance.
