Just came across your post... I must have missed this when it got sent home to parents but this is indeed very helpful and does answer a lot of my questions.
Thanks very much!

Hi,

This document was distributed to all the parents whose children attend Belleville and is also available on the school's website. I think it will answer some of your questions:

I'm quite confused about what converting to an academy really means. I've heard that it will give the school more autonomy from Wandsworth council, more money and more financial security but I don't know what that really boils down to or how things will, or possibly could change with regards to the day to day running of the school. Certainly the school seems quite enthusiastic about it but also, dare I say it a little tight-lipped?
I do trust the school to act in the best interests of its children but I would like to understand more about it all.
Clearly this is a question I should put to the school but can anyone else shed some light on what it all means?

I spoke with the school and there is no change to the admissions process.

Open mornings are Nov 1st and 2nd if you want to come along and learn more.

That was my understanding but the Council Leader posted a reply (thread link below) indicating Belleville will be responsible for its own admissions as of this month now that it is an academy. Very confused here.

As far as I'm aware, nothing changes - Council still handle admissions to the main school while school themselves administer nursery, which is how it's been for a while. Hope that helps. If you want to be certain, just phone the school or council.

Belleville now an academy, where to apply for admission?

Just read that Belleville School has been granted academy status and as such will become responsible for its own admissions after 1st October 2011.

Now, what happens to those applying for entry to the school in September 2012? Especially those who have already applied ahead of the January 15, 2012 deadline? Do we now need to apply directly to Belleville? Their website has not be updated to reflect any changes now that the school has become an academy.
