My son is a big gamer and has been since he was quite young but at 11 he was playing Minecraft and Fortnite. I certainly wouldn’t have allowed him to play Call of Duty and even at 17 I wouldn’t be very happy if he did. There are lots of first person shooter games that aren’t graphic like Call of Duty. Tell him to find another game. I’d be tempted to have a word with his friends’ parents about them playing CoD. It has an age rating for a reason.

I'd even hold out past 16 if you can, as not only is it violent and gruesome, but it normalises violence in a developing brain.

Thanks for the reply Goldhawk. I will stick to my guns, no pun intended  :)

Hmmm I'd try to hold off until 16 tbh - it's violent and gruesome

Appropriate age to play Call of Duty

Can anyone please advise what age children need to be to play Call of Duty. I know that it has a rating of 18 but I have an 11 year old who has friends who are playing it and I know that he must also play it at their houses and is asking if he can have his own copy as it is 'lame' that he doesn't.

I am not a gamer, nor is my husband and  I am wondering if the age rating on games is a bit similar to that of films which I know I dodged and managed to see when I was younger without coming to any harm.

Thoughts from anyone who has children who play it would be very welcome! Thanks x
