Hi - we had to make a similar choice 7 years and chose the Roche for both our children.  It's been a fantastic school for our family and we are part of a wonderful community

The Roche is non selective as you know.  My eldest did the 11+ last year and was part of a year group of 2 classes that achieved 35 scholarships between them.  My child got offers from competitive schools eg emanuel, kingston grammar, and a scholarship.  The school were amazing with the 11+  - managed the process so well and my child was not stressed, and still really enjoyed the school and all the great things they did after the 11+

The school is incredibly nurturing and kind, I can't fault it.    The academics and pastoral care are excellent and my children have both thrived academically and socially at the Roche.   We have never regretted our choice.

Hi there

Both my kids go to the Roche and we couldn’t be happier. We moved my eldest from a school nearby during the pandemic as the schooling on offer was woeful. We were so happy we did as the lockdown education offered by the Roche was excellent and the pastoral care was absolutely wonderful. Since then the school seems to have only got better with improved communications, excellent sports results and fantastic academic achievements - particularly with their outstanding 11+ and scholarship results from recent years. We are so happy with the school. Always fun, nurturing, supportive and challenging for the children in all the right ways.

My kids were at the roche they are now in secondary school. Just be aware that the roche school is a good school but it doesnt suit every child.
My youngest was failed by the teachers and principal, my youngest was happy there and did flourish.

PM me if you want to talk.

If we hadnt move out of london, my youngest would have changed school. I really hope the school has changed their ways, but I dont think so.

The Roche is also an excellent school. Warm, nuturing, family feel. It is well organised, very experienced staff and head and 35 scholarships at 11+ for last year’s cohort of just 2 small classes.
You can’t go wrong with either of these two schools. They are both really good.

Hi there

We sent our three children to Hurlingham, all from Reception and couldn’t speak more highly of their experience. All three are very different personalities with different skill sets and yet all three have absolutely loved their time at the school. The staff are incredible from the wonderful warmth of Reception and lower school to the hugely supportive and thorough 11+ preparation for our eldest. The academics are stellar (11+ exit results provide so much comfort - the kids seem to do so well across the board) and the sport is just fantastic with so many opportunities for them to play team sport fixtures. We also have two very musical and art loving children and they are in seventh heaven with the opportunities they’re given! Biggest thing - it’s a real family, for the parents as well, and the kids have just been so so happy there. Couldn’t more throughly recommend it.

Good luck with the decision!

Have you visited both? They are very different schools. We looked at both and immediately eliminated Roche. It felt chaotic, cramped, and not academically rigorous enough. I like Hurlingham but it was ultimately too far away for us and we chose a different school.

We've just moved to London and DD has a place at Roche and hurlingham for reception starting spring term 2024. Which one is a better choice ? What has your experience been for lower classes ?
