Thanks everyone. I'll definitely get some locks which stop the window opening out too far.

I called velux and got a lockable handle with a key.

SDS on Northcote Road sell Securistay Window Restrictor for Wooden Windows: http://www.sdslondon.co.uk/window-opene ... ndows.html

These are designed for child safety, this stay restricts window opening to 75mm and is unlocked by the special key provided.

We also sell restrictors for metal windows too: http://www.sdslondon.co.uk/window-opene ... ndows.html

Hope this helps.

I've been having the same concern and came across this:

Not actually ordered it yet though so can't report back.

Would also love to hear what other ideas people might have.

Child proofing velux windows

Hi

We are currently having our loft converted and I am a bit concerned about the huge velux windows in our child's bedroom (she's 2). Does anyone have any advice on child proofing them? The builder has positioned them quite low down which particularly worries me.

Thanks!
