Bellevue Law is a young and dynamic Chambers and Legal 500 ranked boutique firm, with a team of 15 senior consultant lawyers with backgrounds in leading international law firms. We were highly commended in the ‘Boutique Law Firm of the Year’ category at the 2022 Lawyer Awards and shortlisted in the same category in the British Legal Awards 2022.
"Bellevue Law represents an extremely compelling value proposition: they are a team of highly trained lawyers who deliver all that the Magic Circle does in terms of expertise, judgement, client handling skills but at a fraction of the cost. Their success is richly deserved." - Legal 500 2022 - Legal 500 2022
We are based on Northcote Road, but our team work completely flexibly and are free to work from the office, from home or from serviced offices in central London.
Our culture
Bellevue Law was founded 9 years ago with a commitment to completely flexible working at its heart. Our lawyers have no chargeable targets and are free to work when and where they choose, managing their client commitments alongside their other obligations, without sacrificing the quality of that work. Our experience is that flexibility has allowed us to attract and retain exceptional lawyers, which in turn makes for great work and happy clients.
We have a friendly and inclusive culture, with regular social and training events and a supportive ethos which differentiates us from other consulting firms. We are committed to ethical business practices, being the first UK law firm to be accredited by the Good Business Charter. We are working towards becoming a B Corp and our founder, Florence Brocklesby, was shortlisted in the Women and Diversity in Law Awards 2023.
"As much control and flexibility as you could ever have servicing clients. There are no unhelpful egos, there is no infighting or politics and you know your founder and colleagues have your back. The quality of work is fantastic, the clients are great and it's a place with integrity and quiet style."
Responsibilities
We are looking for additional senior private client lawyer to support our thriving and expanding practice.
Led by Harriet Atkinson, formerly head of probate at Forsters, our private client practice has an impressive client base which belies our size and reflects our extensive experience and core values of providing high-quality advice with a personal service. Our private clients are predominantly UK-based and include entrepreneurs, families, executors and trustees. We advise on succession and capital tax planning, wills, trusts, lasting powers of attorney. We have extensive experience of probate and administration of estates and often deal with complex and/or high value estate and those with an international element. We regularly act as executor for our clients.
Much of our work comes from referrals, and clients have rated us at 9.5/10 on average when asked how likely they are to recommend us to a friend or colleague in each of our past five annual surveys.
Qualifications
You’ll already be a successful senior private client lawyer with a background in a leading practice, great technical and interpersonal skills and comfortable advising a range of clients. You may be looking for something different – more freedom, control and flexibility, and a truly supportive working culture – for the next stage of your career.
"An enviable balance of maintaining a professional career and working for some fantastic clients as part of a fabulous team, whilst being able to do the school run, take the dog for a walk and enjoy life outside work!"
As with any Bellevue Law lawyer, you will have excellent technical abilities, client care and ethical standards and interpersonal skills, and be trusted as an advisor, capable of developing relationships with, and attracting work from, your clients. However, we do not require a following.
Job Benefits
We can offer our consultants work from existing clients as well as bespoke business development support to generate their own work. All of our lawyers have made a successful transition from larger firms to our more entrepreneurial environment, so we can say with confidence born of experience that excellent lawyers will win work using our model.
"Although self-employed you are not on your own ... you have support and a good flow of work through the firm and from other consultants."
We find that lawyers who join us are often surprised at how our model allows them to flourish, and would be happy to put you in touch with one of our several lawyers who has made the move for a confidential chat.

If this might be the right move for you, Harriet Atkinson, Senior Consultant in the Private Client team, would be delighted to have a confidential conversation with you in person or via Zoom. Get in touch at
