Hi, I have just done this with our kiwi nanny who can stay here til 2016. I tried esure and it was ridiculously expensive and so i then rang diamond (who i had used before and we were insured with for another month) and it only cost us about 20 quid to put her on. we were at the end of contract so thats why i tried esure too. I was amazed at the difference. Might be worth a go.

We insured our nanny on our car which is nothing special at all. She was 29 and had UK residency so it shouldn't have been hard but also ended up paying around £400 for the privilege.... she then had an accident and put a large dent in the car which cost a lot to repair.. we now don't insure nanny's as we think its easier to pay for taxis when required but at the same time don't have a long school run to deal with etc...

I looked into this before we got an au pair, and tried to find out how much it would cost or what kind of an au pair we should hire so that we could afford to insure her. Of course no company can give you a 'hypothetical' quote so I had to make up people to insure!

Most useful one was one that specialises in this area:
Morton Michel who will insure anyone who is:
- over 21, has license for 2 yrs, european but not eastern european.

hope that helps

Does anyone have any experience of this? Direct Line wanted to charge me an additional £450 per year for the privilege!

Having declined this tempting offer, I tried John Lewis car insurance. After spending a good few minutes detailing the visa status of my nanny (indefinite leave to remain not being initially considered sufficient) and having it checked with a supervisor, I then lost my patience with the salesperson when she started getting worked up about my husband being French - and wanting to know if he had the right to live in the UK. Yes, I replied, he's lived here for years. Oh, she said after yet again checking with her supervisor, well we'll do the quote, but we'll just have to see who's prepared to cover a French national.

Or, as I suggested, we could NOT do the quote, and I could call someone else. Any suggestions?
