Ooh, more praise for Jane. Trouble is that Earlsfield is a long way out of my way <lazy> and 6.30 on a weekday is too early for me to leave work...

will definitely bear her in mind for later on in pregnancy though (hopefully work hours will ease up once I tell them I am pregnant and start to get larger!) and also for post natal. She does sound great.

Thanks again all!

I have been attending Jane Wake's classes for the last 4 years. They are absolutely fab. I started her antenatal classes when I was newly pregnant with my son (now 3.5 years) and moved onto the postnatal classes a few weeks after birth. I now also have a 22 month old and regularly attend her evening pilates flow class and body back class (spinning/ toning combo). Jane herself and all the girls that work for her are lovely and I can't thank them enough for helping me to fix my back issues following pregnancy. I am more toned than I was before having the children and have a much healthier attitude to exercise ( I used to be a gym member but not really do anything while I was there!) :D

Jane runs classes on Saturdays too - at It's a Kid's Thing in Earlsfield. I did postnatal and have gone on to do Body Back and Pilates Flow and if we have another, I'll definitely do pregnancy pilates with her. I love her classes and love the way that I can bring my son with me too.
I'm pretty sure Michelle teaches Saturdays, rather than Jane though. I think they are 9:15 to 10, with the Pilates Flow class 10 to 11. Best thing is that my son can play for free with his daddy while I'm exercising!

Wow thanks for all the replies! Lots of great information here.

TBH I am more interested in classes than personal sessions, partly due to cost but also because I would like to meet other pregnant ladies near me :)

I would love details of that DVD lovely fit b!

The yoga in Balham Library looks good, thank you for the tip.

Good to hear another good review of Jane Wake.

Has noone tried Rosa's classes then? Her website/brand name is Pilatespluswellness, I think she also does classes in Northcote Library sometimes.

I was marginally edging towards her classes rather than the jane Wake ones, simply because the Jane Wake ones are at 6.30 on a weekday and I may struggle to get back from work by then (whereas Rosa's are on Saturdays). But would love to hear from someone who has tried her classes... Or maybe I will try to do both Jane's and Rosa's classes...

decisions decisions!

I did the Antenatal pilates with Jane Wake and it was AMAZING!

She helped with all aches and pains and she gave me more info regarding birth than either the hospital or NCT! I am sure I could not have got through birth without going to her classes.

But actually the best thing is that I met lovely friends through the classes, one really good friend infact. I also then went on to do her postnatal class which helped ease the body back to normal. You can take to babies to this class and it is really social. I now do her pilates flow course and genuinely love it!

Hi all,

I am a Pilates Teacher and a Mummy of a nineteen month old. I hold a specialist qualification in pre and post-natal Pilates and generally teach 1:1s at your house. I am based off Northcote Road and charge £42 for an hour session during the evenings; I bring mats and equipment with me. However, this price decreases considerably if you can get a friend or two to join you. I am also happy to negotiate a price if you live close by.

Please do get in touch if you're interested.

I did pregnancy pilates with Pilates Sanctuary (they are upstairs at Balance Physiotherapy near Clapham North tube). They are FAB and the other students are lovely. The chances of you coming across at least one other pregnant student or woman who's just had a baby is very high. :) I worked with Agur (who is about to go off on maternity leave with her second baby) and also worked with Alice and Rosalie - all great. Good luck and enjoy!

They're launching their website next month, but in the meantime, here's a little info and contact details on the Balance website - http://www.balancephysio.com/team/125/pilates-sanctuary

I went to the Pilates Practice in St John's Hill. They tend to prefer it if you have already done some pilates or been regularly exercising before pregnant but as long as you satisfy these criteria they seem to be happy to take you on whilst pregnant!

Rebecca who runs natus physiotherapy is also a brilliant pilates instructor. Worth looking at her website for pilates classes. We are also in the last phases of completing a DVD which will be available end of May we hope - proper exercise in pregnancy which includes pilates, yoga and strength and tone. It would be fab for home practice. Feel free to be in touch if you would like further details. Katy at Readysteadymums is launching this, and has done a wonderful job.

I've been doing pregnancy yoga with Vicky at WH Yoga
http://www.whyoga.com/

Classes are on Monday nights in Balham Library and Weds night in Earlsfield library, if you buy a 10 week course you can attend both Balham and Earlsfield. I've been doing it now for about 12 weeks and it's great - my back gets very sore and it really helps. I also sleep very well afterwards, and have met other lovely local Mummies to be.

Elizabeth Kamm (aka Lovefitbesty) is lovely and specialises in pre- and post natal exercise. I'd suggest you give a call to see what she can offer you.

She wrote an article on my blog about exercising in pregnancy which will hopefully be helpful to you anyhow.

elizabeth does group sessions too if you can get some other pregnancy mums together. Cost is prohibitive. Im doing a burst but think it would be great ongoing to get a few friends together and do something on the common weather permitting - and then have coffee and cake after!!

Thanks both!

glad to hear Jane Wake is good, thanks. The baby A Wake classes fit better with my pregnancy dates (as the other ones start just before I hit 12 weeks) but they are on Thursdays so a bit harder to fit around work. Decisions, decisions.

I would love to have private one on one sessions but the cost puts me off! The classes I'm looking at are quite small so hopefully plenty of personal attention.
