Hi, I had my hen party last year and used the Vintage Patisserie (as mentioned earlier in this thread). Angel who runs it is amazing - it was a superb afternoon. The whole thing is vintage from china to food and drink and they give you all a make over/hair do in 20s-40s style if you want. It was great fun and unforgettable. They personalise everything for the hen - right down to chocolates and various other things to make it really special. Highly recommended do check it out!
Other thing we did was to do a cupcake decorating class - there's a great company called the make lounge (they have a comprehensive website) - their cupcake hen parties are brilliant and suit all ages and tastes. We brought lots of fizz with us to drink whilst decorating and it was again a great afternoon out.
Hope you manage to get something booked.
YP x

I helped organise a hen party afternoon tea at the Athenaeum Hotel, for well over 20 people. We had a section of the room to ourselves.

Check out Viva Cake - afternoon and evening tea with a difference. I think it's still going. I had part of my hen party there. It was at bethnal green working mens club. Tea and cake servedon lovely china by girls on rollerskates with a rock and roll 50s vibe. Went on into the evening. Best afternoon I think I've ever had!

My friend had afternoon tea at the Chelsea Tea Pot

There is a room downstairs which you can hire for private use.

I had my pre-wedding afternoon tea at The Wolseley, which was fabulous. We were only a small group, though, I don't know what they think about large numbers. Recently did tea at The Waldorf and they had a large group of hens.

Another option from the same stable as St Martin's Lane is The Sanderson - they have a room that is next to the courtyard garden which would be really lovely for an afternoon tea event. The Events Team at both hotels are great and will come up with some wonderful options for you.

Would also be worth looking at the Firmdale hotel group. They own Soho Hotel, Haymarket Hotel etc and have some lovely rooms. I did a client afternoon tea event in the Library at the Soho Hotel and they did a wonderful job. They have a mixture of rooms so can handle a most group sizes.

Location wise they are all central so easy for people to get to.

I went to a fabulous afternoon tea held for a hen party in The St Martins Lane Hotel - we had a private dining area and the whole tea was Alice in Wonderland Themed and superbly catered even for my gluten/dairy free diet too - amazing service from two staff in the eloquent white room with chandelier and beautiful table settings - we all had tea and champagne plus the tiers of scones, sandwiches, desserts (drink me and eat me themed) and even hot and cold lollipops - it was amazing and at about £28 per head - unbelievable value - would highly recommend!

Also, I would say that we were all quite painfully full after the tea - I'd consider that when you are choosing where / what time / what sort of place to eat in the evening!

I organised a hen party afternoon tea at St James's (off Piccadilly, so very handy for Dover Street if you do end up there!). There were fewer than 20 of us though- perhaps 13 or so - and we got a private room.

Or have you tried the Charlotte Street hotel?

Hello

I've mainly enjoyed afternoon tea at the more renowned hotels where reservations for large numbers will be difficult to make.

Have you tried The Goring? They always appear so accommodating and aren't too stuffy/fussy unlike some of the old school stalwarts.
Otherwise, you may get lucky at the Mandarin Oriental. I can't say that the bar/restaurant they host it at has much character, but you may be able to swing a last minute reservation there.

Presumably, the venues listed in this article are all fully booked? - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/desti ... -teas.html

Good luck! I'm sure you'll be able to swing something!

Hi there,

I know of a fabulous private vintage tea party venue but it's north London.
They cater for hen parties though, check them out here - http://www.teaparty.uk.com

Happy planning!

The owner of this pitched her idea on Dragon's den and 2 of the Dragon's invested - I haven't been but I saw a follow up program and it looked good.

Hi,

The Berkeley Hotel-it's fabulous! I had my baby shower there, and they did offer a private room option ... We all loved it.

On Dover st in mayfair there us a restsurant where you can dance too. Cant remember the exact name though, went once, i think it is "the dover club" or something like that, google it. But it is really good! It was a xmas party with MBA friends and we were there dancing until 2am after having had nice food. Need to book ahead though and sbout £40 a head.

Good luck. Sx
