Quite new to this site, but will do - am horrified they are even considering it!! I had my little boy there last year and was seriously ill after, which almost resulted in my having to go into intensive care!! I was in the maternity ward for 2 weeks and I cannot speak highly enough about the care and attention I (and my family) received during what was an immensely scary and worrying time for all. If we have another I will definitely want to return there!!

Dear worried people about C&W

Please don't fret. C&W won't close, it will be Charing Cross that loses its A&E Dept and becomes a local hospital, after loads of shenanigans, but that is what will happen (remember, Charing Cross doesn't currently have Maternity or any Paediatrics...)

Queen Charlottes in north Hammersmith, although absolutely fantastic, doesn't have anything like enough space to take over all of the C&W births. Everyone in the know knows that C&W is a fixed point, for that reason if no other.

I've just done it too - and I've written to Jane Ellison, the Wandsworth MP to see if she can get involved! I'm absolutely horrified - I had our son there last summer - he was 4 weeks premature and the team were absolutely fantastic across ante-natal, post-natal, paediatric surgery and paediatric A&E. They are fantastic - we were so impressed and never once made to feel like we were wasting anyone's time or taking up resources. I'd really urge everyone to sign the petition - if they close, it will put massive pressure on the surrounding hospitals.

I happened to be in Hurlingham Park on Saturday and on the public notice board there were posters advertising meetings for the community to take action to save Charing Cross, the alternative hospital in the proposals if they reduce the status of C&W. It is therefore ever more important to take action, even if it is just filling in the form, to have views heard re saving C&W. Keep the post active so as many people as possible are aware of the issue.

Done, my son was also born there. Great service,it makes me proud to be a nurse. I had a male midwife who was so supportive and exceptional.

Done! I had both my children there and cannot praise them enough. Had to take kiddies to A&E on three occasions and they were absolutely amazing.

Done.

PLEASE everyone do it-it is so important. In March 2011 my daughter was rushed to C&W's paediatric A&E, it was scary but all the staff were amazing, and in our experience, has been MUCH better than George's.

So please sign!

Thanks for forwarding the link, I've signed too and would really encourage everyone else to do so. I've found the pediatric A&E in particular just so impressive and I can't imagine how I would feel knowing it wasn't there.

It's a great hospital, please support it.

I had no idea either and I just happened to stumble on the post tonight. I suspect a lot of other people don't know either which was why I posted to keep it alive. I am all in favour of reform for improvement but that would be a huge loss to the community and what a waste of all the recent investment that has been put into it.

Keep the topic live - tell your friends and fill in the form!

Done. I wasn't even aware this was a possibility. It would be SO awful if it was to happen. By far the best hospital in London in my opinion. Keeping fingers crossed.

Please take time to answer otherwise we are in danger of losing C&W as a major hospital and therefore removing most of the facilities. I have had my children there who, at varying times, have been poorly, needed operations, lots of outpatient appointments and without exception they have been fantastic. If we lose C&W as a major hospital the majors in the area will be:

Major hospitals—Charing Cross Hospital, Hillingdon Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital, St Mary's Hospital and West Middlesex Hospital
Elective and local hospital—Central Middlesex Hospital
Local hospitals—Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Ealing Hospital
Specialist hospital (with maternity unit)—Hammersmith Hospital

How horrendous would that be?????

Please follow the link - it takes your through and you click on the C&W bit and fill in the public postcard (takes 2 minutes) and ideally the longer consultation. There is a section with C&W responses to help with the longer consultation and of the questions Q24 is most critical

Thats terrible ...!! It is a fantastic hospital with fantastic facilities.
It is one hospital that is friendly and non threatening. I had my baby there and it was a great team that looked after me .

I wish them all the best and they have my vote!
