There are many wonderful places to visit in Wales. I am originally from a lttle village at the base of the brecon beacons.

I love Tenby.

A MUST is St Davids Catherdral.

Narbeth.

The mumbles coast is a wonderful part of wales.

There are so many castles in wales, where do i begin.

You may want to take the children to the

St. Fagans: National History Museum on the way to break the journey.

any questions please ask.

I come from Wales and you couldn't have chosen a more beautiful place to go.

My family come from near Abergavenny and it is lovely around there, lots of lovely pubs, castles and things to do. If you look on Alastair Sawdays website you will find some lovely B & B's which are actually people's homes and so great places to stay.

It is also 2.5 hours or so from London.

Have a lovely time!

My brother has a log cabin which he rents out in Cardigan Bay. It's in a beautiful position and sleeps up to 6 people. http://westwalesholidaycottages.co.uk/parc-y-pant-cabin

I would definitely recommend Pembrokehire - we've stayed in Bluestones before (see post above) and it is great. There are not as many activities as Center Parcs, but there is more in the immediate area - the beaches at Saundersfoot and Tenby are beautiful and they are nice little towns as well.

Although further away, North Wales is also absolutely beautiful - Snowdonia is really worth seeing and there are some beautiful towns and castles.

If you do drive across to Pembrokeshire, the Welsh valleys are really interesting. even though they are industrial it is worth stopping and seeing them. They have kept an old coal mine (Big Pit) open so that you can go and see how the mines worked.

I'm from Carmarthenshire which is nestled between the Gower and Pembrokeshire so I'd highly recommend going there.

The Gower is stunning and it's not too far from the M4. But from London will take about 4 hours.

But there are some stunning coastal path walks.... the same can be said for Pembrokeshire.

http://www.walescoastpath.gov.uk/explor ... walks.aspx

Not far from there along the coast is the Wetlands centre, similar to the one in Barnes... http://www.wwt.org.uk/visit/llanelli/

A bit further away there is an old castle which is falling down a bit now but is perfect for the children. I spent many a Sunday afternoon playing hide and seek there with cousins. http://www.castlewales.com/carreg.html

There is also a Castle as you come in to Wales which is a bit more modern http://www.wales360.co.uk/castell_coch/

Head an hour and a bit down towards Pembrokeshire and kids will enjoy..

However, if you did fancy it there's a family place down in Pembrokeshire that is popular... it's a bit like Centre Parks... http://www.bluestonewales.com/content/r ... tAodL1IAAw

That's a lot of information to take in!

Happy holidays, or as we say at home, Gwyliau Hapus!

Hello

My husband is welsh so we spend a lot of time there

The Gower is stunning - and lovely fresh local food (e.g. salt marsh lamb)

Some friends of ours own Tir Cethin farm which is a luxury barn but very good value - great for family get togethers

Have fun!

Hay on wye - could go kayaking on the river wye and great little town to wonder around. Equally Abergavenny. Brecon Beacons really close to go walking.

Alternatively you could head to the Gower However Pembrokeshire is beautiful but a bit more of a trek. anywhere not too far from St Davids - you can't go wrong.

If you are not keen on Wales herefordshire or Shropshire are equally beautiful places to visit which are considered on the border of Wales and absolutely stunning. Try owners direct or local tourist boards for accommodation as not quite sure what you are looking for.

Hope this helps.

Wales? Where to go?!

I'm hoping to take my husband, 2 children (ages 4 and 6) and my parents (70+) to Wales for the first time at the end of October. I'd prefer not to travel more than 3-4 hours (either by car or train) and are open to staying inland or on the shore at either a b&b or hotel. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to start looking? Ideally there would be some kind of farm around and perhaps a castle to see as that is the kind of thing I believe my parents would most enjoy seeing.

Thanks for ANY advice as to where to start my search.
