As one of the most important things for a good counselling outcome is the relationship I suggest that you have at least a fifteen minute informal chat with your potential therapist. It may be helpful to visit my website www.heathfieldandhailshamcounsellingpsychotherapy.co.uk where there's quite a bit of info you may find useful. You're welcome to call if there's anything you'd like to clarify, I really do know how difficult it is to find the right person to share what's troubling you !!

If you don't want to pay 80-100 pounds per session I can recommend the 'Albany Trust' on Balham High Road.
Their counsellors not only use straight forward counselling but psycotheraphy/ psycoanalysis as well as some cbt, depending on the client.

It has taken me a while to find one. Not only where the ones I found really expensive but the relationship is very important for you to progress.

Good luck! X

Have a look at the awareness centre in Aberville Road. I think they were originally set up as a couselling practice. there are a number of counsellors listed on their website. I suggest that you contact 2 or 3 of them and have an informal chat on the phone. You can then get a feel for who would work for you. I saw somebody that I found there, Patricia Mcentree, and she helped through a difficult period. I am not sure she's based in Clapham though, I saw her in Victoria. good luck!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a really good personal counsellor? The recipient has tried someone but it didn't work terribly well so I'm hoping she may have more luck with a personal recommendation, ideally around the clapham/wandsworth area (but I'm sure she'll travel if need be). Thanks very much in advance.
